I recently found this note to myself:
No sense in thinking small. Don't water down your vision. A remarkable amount can be accomplished if you are willing to think longer term than most and work hard each day.
“Lock yourself in a room and study until you collapse. True brilliance comes from obsession.”
— Isaac Newton
Greatness isn’t casual.
It’s focused, relentless, and obsessed.
Tip of the Day:
Document everything. Not because you do not trust people. Because the day you need the truth, memory will be the most contested resource in the room.
Read more books. Read to escape reality. Read to understand reality. Read to challenge what you believe. Read to think better. Read to write better. Read to argue better. Read to know yourself. Read to build something. A single book can completely rewire your brain.
Life rarely changes in a positive way without an increase in responsibility.
That can mean taking ownership of your health or committing to a relationship or starting a business.
Whatever it is, if you want the trajectory to change, the amount of responsibility usually has to change.
Be educated. Be sharp. Be curious.
Elite circles don’t care how viral you are.
They care how you think.
If you want access to powerful rooms,
bring substance to the table.
What to do when you're not sure what to do:
Build capacity.
Ex:
- Go to bed on time when you’re not sure what to do the next day
- Build an audience when you're not sure what product to sell
- Add goodwill to your email list when you don’t have a promo
- Get in shape when you don’t have dates lined up
- Save money when you're not sure where to invest
The thing about opportunities is that they present themselves to everyone and only people with capacity can both recognize and capitalize on them.
So don’t be in the bleachers when that fat pitch comes. Be at the plate. Ready to swing big.
