Blaming yourself for losing a game of Ranked is the most narcissistic thing you can do
"I should've pathed safer"
"I should've backed on better timers"
"I could've waited to start that fight"
You're NOT the main character
Grow up, be mature, and start blaming losers queue.
Secret of the DTC Universe #1: A winning creative is only 30% about copy.
This should be obvious, but it’s an important one for the copywriters out there who are trying to be creative strategists...
Along with the creative strategists who aren't getting the results they want.
Copy is important of course (will talk about this more when I share secret #2 in a future post)...
But there are a ton of factors that go into determining whether any creative is a big winner for a brand or not…
Including:
-The video editor
-The creator or spokesperson (in a yapper ad, for example)
-The voiceover (in a narrated ad)
-The image (in statics DUH, but especially long-form native style on meta)
-The visuals shown on screen
-The opening shot
-The opening caption on screen
-The pacing
-The music and sound effects (or lack thereof)
-The way the product is demonstrated
-The way the entire thing is assembled
Maybe that sounds obvious, but it’s so crucial:
Because if any single one of the above factors is wrong…
Then you (or I) could write the best ad in the world and still see it bomb.
That’s why, as a creative strategist, you should WANT to be involved in reviewing every single ad.
If you’re working for a client…
You should find out which video editors are the best, and fight to have those video editors being the ones who turn your ad into a video creative.
Same thing with creators - if the brand does a lot of “yapper” style video ads for example - where it’s a creator talking on camera and then sharing the product…
You should fight to have the best creators being the ones to deliver your script…
And then when the video ads do come back…
You should review them carefully and not be afraid to leave comments or notes if something is screwed up.
This is crucial for so many reasons…
But the biggest reason is this:
At the end of the day, it’s your ass on the line.
This is really important to understand as well:
If your ads bomb, the company/client is probably not going to blame the video editors or even the creator.
They are most likely going to blame you.
“I guess their hooks/scripts/big ideas aren’t very good.”
“They have a super low hit-rate compared to the other creative strategists.”
“You’re fired.”
Seems unfair, but that’s life…
And also, it's actually totally fair...
Because making successful creatives is literally your job.
You are a creative strategist. Not a copywriter.
The difference is everything I described above.
And making sure the creatives are good is the main thing you are getting paid for.
After exploring China more as an American it’s pretty apparent why the US is getting mogged.
1.Drugs.
Drugs are a pure negative on society and I haven’t realized the impact until now. It makes sense why the Chinese don’t have “homeless”. Homeless to Americans mean people lazing around on the streets, often high. In China, there are a ton of people below the poverty line, but they are all doing something. Swarming around hotel lobby entrances selling umbrellas, back to back fruit sellers, etc. They weren’t given the option to turn to drugs that’ll ruin their life.
2.Politics induced polarization
In the US, the two political parties are incentivized to brainwash voters with their talking points. Polarizing takes will always perform better than neutral ones due to how the internet engages with content.
That is why I start most of my tweets with some form of ragebait if I want it to gain traction. “As an American”. The dangerous thing about political rage bait is that they don’t need to be lies, it’s so easy to invoke certain reactions by presenting truths in a certain way.
For example, the datacenter water argument. One side has clearly been fed propaganda on how data centers are destroying people’s lives with their water consumption and environmental impact. The other side has been fed propaganda about the water usage numbers compared to golf courses and how data centers don’t use that much water. As a result, you have one half of the country in protest and the other half thinking the first half’s retarded.
If only presented with one truth, both parties would reach the conclusion to simply focus on making better data centers in a way that doesn’t disrupt people’s lives.
3.Short term profit incentives
When politicians are elected for 4 year terms, they gain absolutely nothing by investing in a long term plan that takes 20 years to pan out. Thats not going to get them re-elected. They get re-elected by fucking over the economy for short term glowups during their 4 years.
The Chinese can implement public infrastructure projects that span decades. They’ve been doing that shit since the Great Wall. Nowadays it’s resulted in high speed trains and citywide subway systems.
4.Anti-tech mindset
50 years ago the United States was the world’s leader and China was a shithole. The Americans did not see much improvement in their lifestyle with the rise of tech. Meanwhile China was transformed in a large part due to the technological advancements over the years.
Along with nostalgia and political talking points, it is not a surprise that many in the US are against tech advancements.
This was made very clear with AI. Almost everyone in the US opposes it, they see it as massive corporations taking advantage of the people and milking them for profits with the result with their own work. Which is true.
Meanwhile the Chinese understands that advancements in technology makes everyone’s lives better. The models are the culmination of everyone’s work and should be opensourced.
5.Illogical empathy
Due to diversity and polarization incentives, society’s been broken down into many layers of sub identities. Race wars, gender wars, class wars, sexual orientation wars, etc etc. It’s resulted in a massive web of what is considered morally correct within your own group of people, at the risk of alienation if you break ranks.
For example, if you buy a Tesla in the US you are against trans people. Meanwhile, the majority of cars I’ve seen in China is electric. The Chinese have no qualms about EV adoption, it’s quieter, reduces smog, and environmentally friendly. Pure net positive for the government to subsidize various EV manufacturers so the cost is lower on the consumers, and the consumers were happy to make the switch as the result. Win win.

TLDR Beijing/Chongqing is hard gapping NY/SF rn and we need to pull our shit together.
IT'S LIVE!!!
I just launched my copywriting/advertising course on YouTube.
These are the principles that have produced about ~$400M for my businesses.
And the course is free.
I created it ten years ago. Started selling it, then decided I didn't want to be a 'make money online' guy. So it's been sitting on a Google Drive ever since.
Now it's yours, and if you sell anything online, I'm 99% sure that you'll learn something which helps your business grow!
If you like it, all I ask is...
- share it with friends and/or retweet this post
- leave comments on the videos
- tell someone special that you love them (seriously)
I have zero interesting in building a business, a list, etc. out of this. No interest in monetizing it in any way, or doing coaching or consulting right now - still hardcore operating in my own business.
But - I genuinely love this stuff, and I'd love to make more content over time. So if I see enough of the same questions come up in the YT comments, I'm sure I'll make more videos addressing them.
Headed out camping in a few hours with the fam, and planning brick my social media and work apps for the weekend. Might check comments for a few hours then check out. So... enjoy!

Here is EXACTLY we used our Higgsfield brand shovels to find 20.6 tons of gold in just the last week

higgsfield have just dropped a super useful resource...
they've open-sourced the full prompts, reference files, and settings behind their in-house AI videos, so anyone can copy and recreate them
for example, this launch video:
The world wants me to die.
My incurable disease diagnosis became global news. It was omnipresent on social media and 1,900 articles were written in a matter of days.
Many were saddened.
However, joy dominated the commentary.
People pointed to schadenfreude, the pleasure of another's failure. Yes, there’s that. There is a special place in people’s hearts that loves to see others fail, especially when that person’s presence threatens their own psychological stability in some way or helps them feel better about themselves.
But, if you look over the social media commentary about me, you’ll see that pattern:
“he deserved it.”
I deserved it because I challenged death. The crowd was running a deeply rooted psychological script that represents the oldest, most deeply embedded stories of human culture.
This was the first story ever written down, 4,000 years ago. Gilgamesh sought eternal life after losing someone he loved, only to have the plant of youth stolen by a serpent as he bathed. Leaving him to accept his mortality.
Asclepius became so skilled at rejuvenation that he raised the dead. As punishment, Zeus struck him down with a thunderbolt to enforce life and death authority.
This is the story of Jesus. Pontius Pilate offered a choice between a thief and the immortalist, and the crowd demanded the execution.
People need this story conclusion to keep themselves sane. The challenger must lose and the loss must appear deserved. It’s a shield of self preservation.
For if death is inevitable, their existence and that of their loved ones is justified and unavoidable. If death is not inevitable, nothing about their reality is safe.
I occupy the same philosophical and archetypal position as Gilgamesh, Asclepius and Jesus.
This statement will draw outrage and accusations of blasphemy, hubris and narcissism. Nevertheless, it’s the pattern that has repeated itself for thousands of years.
Death has been the omnipresent concern of the human race. It encapsulates our greatest fears, joy and curiosities. The discourse around it changes over time; however, the fundamentals remain unchanged.
What’s different about this moment, that is unlike any other moment, is that physical death may no longer be inevitable.
What if I didn’t deserve it?
And what if I am your ally, and not a threat?

We found a strikingly similar divide inside Claude.
For context on the air conditioning debate between the US and Europe...one must consult the ancient texts:
1. Anything that is in the world when you're born is normal and ordinary and is just a natural part of the way the world works.
2. Anything that's invented between when you're 15 and 35 is new and exciting and revolutionary, and you can probably get a career in it.
3. Anything invented after you're 35 is against the natural order of things.
