Whoever told you that youโre ugly must be joking. In reality, some people simply arenโt very photogenic, especially on video. The same thing happened to me during the PwC Graduate Trainee 1min video assessment. I recorded more than 20 videos before deciding which one to submit.
Years ago, I talked myself out of opportunities because they required a video. I had internalized years of being told I was ugly, so the thought of putting my face on camera filled me with dread. I would rather walk away from an opportunity than record a two-minute video.
Then one year, I made a New Year's resolution: no matter how uncomfortable I felt, I would stop letting that fear decide my future. If an application required a video, I would do it anyway.
That decision changed my life. Two videos I recorded that year eventually took me to the United States twice on fully funded programs.
Do I still sigh whenever I see "submit a short video" as part of an application? Yes. Writing remains my comfort zone. The difference is that I no longer let discomfort make my decisions.
If I want the opportunity, I do what the process requires.
@AdewuyiRoseline Thatโs why you should always take note of this. โNever underestimate yourself because of your background. Your current circumstances do not determine your futureโ As far as I know any answer i will speak it out since is not a crime.
@Miss_Halimatu Ameen ya hayyyu ya qayyum
I didnโt like him because of the team he played for. However, after seeing this he has earned my respect today and forever.
