🧵👇
🚨 NEW: CEPI has launched an additional Call for Proposals in response to the current Bundibugyo virus (BDBV) outbreak in the DRC and Uganda to support critical, time-sensitive activities that directly inform and support vaccine R&D decision-making.
Two workstreams are in scope:
🔵 Epidemiology, modelling and analytics
🔵 Immunological and clinical assessment of potential cross-reactive antibodies induced by existing Ebola vaccines.
The Call is open to global applicants; special consideration will be given to proposals from, or partnering with, groups based in Africa.
➡️ Read the full text to find out more, including eligibility criteria and how to apply via the CEPI Portal: https://t.co/xI2YrXZmIf
Deadline: 22 June 2026.
This Call is complementary to CEPI’s other Call for Proposals, which is seeking to urgently accelerate the development of BDBV vaccine candidates.

Till my last sun shall set in glowing light;
Let me cast anchor where no shadows fall,
Forever moored within Heaven's harbor bright…”

We brake for nautilus!
“We usually stopped what we were doing whenever we saw nautilus, b/c they are such amazing animals to watch,” said #VisioningCoralSea Chief Scientist Dr. Robin Beaman. This enigmatic cephalopod navigated the depths before dinosaurs roamed the Earth!
My gratitude goes to @QuantaMagazine for its partnership in getting this article to the finish line. The facts of life are yet more complicated than you might think.
Growing evidence in mouse models suggests that non-DNA sperm molecules can pass along a dad’s condition at the time of conception. Researchers are working to understand how this occurs, and if it occurs in humans.

Amino Acid Thicketry. Here, the combo of two amino acids, alanine and glutamine, which are buildings blocks of the proteins underlying life, recrystallized from a solution in Mezcal into a composition of embellished stalks. The area shown is the size of a bee's eye.
Monday mayhem!
We've never seen a scallop crash into an anemone riding a snail through a seafloor field of brittle stars either — but hey, you explore to see something new, right?!

A heap of gratitude to writer/photographer Joy Yagid & The Village Green for showcasing my crystal photomicrography work with such a generous profile. Thanks also to the NJ State Council on the Arts for its recognition and support of artists like me! https://t.co/Ml9zojWiQS
The earliest American reconnaissance satellites have long been shrouded in secrecy. Now the veil is starting to lift, and in this story Ivan Amato pulls it back a little farther. https://t.co/Bn2IqTPj57
A many-tentacled creature (Bathyphysa) writhed & wiggled 521 meters from the surface. What could possibly satisfy the insatiable hunger of a colonial organism composed of many zooids working together, each performing a job for survival, like digesting prey or reproduction?

Two scenic overlooks from a glass slide on which I grew crystals from a solution of the amino acids alanine and glutamine, two of the 20 molecular building blocks of your proteins. Each area you see here might fit inside this printed O. #sciart#scicomm#photography#sciart
