I've just played #SpaceInvaders on a #SinclairZXSpectrum emulator. Thinking how awesome those engineers were. 1 year before IBM PC they figured out how to take advantage of a tape recorder and a TV as computer I/O and made millions of little users happy.

U have Spring services with MVC and Kotlin MVC supports suspend! U start working with coroutines but use JDBC and tx PlatformTransactionManager relies in ThreadLocal so u need to migrate to R2DBC,ReactiveTransactionManager and WebFlux Again,a leaky abstraction eats you in the ass

After 30 years working in software engineering I could say that the most useful piece of knowledge I learned has been "The Law of the leaky abstractions" by @spolsky IMHO that's the only "single eternal reality" as Parmenides thought, of Computer Science https://t.co/wWiHtBY33Z

However, I suppose we are not legion honouring @spolsky lessons because there are million of developers deploying web applications on docker, on k8s, on EC2, using distributed components with no knowledge on linux groups, hypervisors, OS, distributed systems and networking. Nice.

Trust is one of the most important success factors in software development. It can take months to build trust in a soft dev team and only seconds to destroy it. Soft managers should be investing more in building and maintaining trust than in being Scrum-Agile-Whatever experts.
