Existem direitos que ainda são seus mesmo que você não os exerça diretamente e sim através de terceiros. A liberadade de imprensa e o sigilo da fonte são duas delas: os jornalistas os exercem por nós em nosso melhor interesse.

No caso do Banco Inter, o vazamento do banco de dados com todos dados pessoais e senhas dos cartões de débito em texto plano só se tornou do conhecimento dos correntistas e das autoridades graças ao sigilo de fonte e a reportagem exclusiva do TecMundo.

Eu quando tive posse da chave SSL privada do banco vazada (a chave do cadeado verde que aparece no seu navegador) só continuei vivo graças a farta cobertura de imprensa com meu nome e foto, já que o banco ameaçou acabar com a minha vida conforme registrado no inquérito.

Com a visibilidade que a imprensa me deu, se acontecesse algo comigo ficaria óbvio quem seria o mandante.

Então defender o sigilo da fonte e a liberdade de imprensa é defender um direito de todos nós. Não é algo que só jornalista deveria se importar.

Afinal, o caso em questão envolve desvio de patrimônio, funcionário e verba pública no Maranhão.
