@notdetails Thought this guide was interesting and informative. The ideal replies weren’t always obvious to me. Obviously YMMV with something like this but it’s a good guide about how to meet someone where they are if they’re interested but have concerns.

@notwaldorf Love this - thanks for sharing your process! I’m stumbling my way through learning with #p5js and always really appreciate the overlaps between generative and organic artwork.
For more than 10 years, some Basecamp employees maintained an open list of customer names that sounded “funny” to them.
Last year, amid a broader reckoning over diversity and inclusion, that list didn’t seem quite so funny any more. And employees wanted to talk about it.
As a...

I want to...
– ban discussing issues in the workplace that do not have any impact on me
so that...
– it doesn't have to be societal at work
My point is this. What we're witnessing is what Whiteness has always done when confronted with unpleasant things. "I'm changing the rules so I don't have to deal with it".
This is no different than "I'm not racist. I just want a nice neighborhood. And you know how they are."
Where is the update on your actions to address fossil fuels as the root cause of these fires, @CAGovernor?
In 2020, @GavinNewsom has fueled the flames by granting over 1,500 new oil & gas permits.
It is time to phase out fossil fuels. #WalkBackTheFrack

... real, impactful, and entrenched systems when I was only expecting to hear about web components. Thank you for speaking up for others and for reminding us about the responsibility that comes with our privilege. 🙏👏
@TatianaTMac I posted this in Slack but I wanted to repost here to make sure you saw it and to affirm the value of your speaking up/out/forward. —
Thank you for your brave, honest, and inspiring talk. It was incredibly refreshing to see a talk like yours about ...
@beep@clarity_conf@jina Thanks so much for sharing your honest, heartfelt, and difficult to confront talk. Here’s to hopefulness, to putting our energy into things we believe in and to having more difficult conversations. I’m looking forward to rewatching your talk again to further process and digest.
It turns out that the best way to promote tolerance, and protect difference of all kinds (racial, moral, political), is to extol the virtues of unity and consensus. Talk on, and on, and on, not about how we should all celebrate difference but how we're really all one and the same
@nickbaum@craigmod Yeah, absolutely tricky. Does that just mean that they are still not charging enough for subscribers to escape their role as ad eyeballs? Would be fascinating to know what a sustainable, pure ad-free cost would look like (still assuming only a small percentage of readers).
