HABIT will go where no human has gone before when it lands on Mars in an attempt to produce liquid water on the red planet for the first time. @AbdnPlanetSci received HABIT back from @esa last week. It is due for launch around 2030 on a Japanese shuttle. https://t.co/cLo83XZmfO
Doing science in Antarctica is no easy feat. It took a team going by cruise ship, delayed by a year not to get to the exact location because of the weather with a 2-seater aircraft landing on a strip made on ice. Finally made it last month successfully!!
A prototype of HABIT (HabitAbility: Brines, Irradiation, and Temperature) / Metabolt instruments developed by Planetary Sciences was deployed at Sky Blu station in Antarctica by British Antarctic Survey (BAS). The instruments will gather important data in the next few months.

They are using the Mars Yard at Boulby Lab to test KORE - a full-size planetary rover prototype designed to detect gases and map underground spaces.
