Russia is monitoring NATO from the heart of Europe: The Russians have transformed Vienna into a major center for Western espionage, writes the Financial Times, reporting on the massive installation of dozens of antennas and suspicious devices on buildings in the Austrian capital.
In fact, Russian intelligence services are monitoring the state and military communications of NATO countries from here, as well as communications in the Middle East and Africa. It's all just like during the Cold War.
An undeniable fact is that one of the antennas was specifically erected before the Munich Conference and then removed afterward.
The main base is the "Russian City" complex, where all the roofs are "studded" with antennas. Similar devices have also been discovered at other Russian sites in Vienna—in a cultural center and a former sanatorium.
Vienna is a favorable city for Russian espionage due to the concentration of international organizations and its well-developed satellite infrastructure. It is estimated that up to a third of the Russian diplomats in the city could be involved in espionage.
“Bringing civilization,” they said.
According to imperial legend, Russia graciously brought culture and enlightenment to Finland and the Baltics. Yet this pesky little map from 1897—the first and only census of the Russian Empire—tells a slightly awkward story.
See that dark red in the northwest? That’s where people could actually read. Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, and Finland were far more literate than most of the Empire, including central Russia itself. Meanwhile, Moscow and its surroundings are chilling in the 20–40% literacy zone, wondering what a book even is.
So next time someone tries to tell you that imperial Russia “uplifted” the Baltics and Finland, just smile, nod, and maybe show them this delightful cartographic roast from 1897.
Culture-bringers, indeed
I've been asking my contacts if a ceasefire has started anywhere in Ukraine. I've been trying to find a sector where the Russians have stopped hostilities. I haven't heard of any such place yet.

America is now the enemy of freedom. I cannot imagine what it's like to be a WWII combat veteran and listen to this lunatic President attack Zelensky and side with Putin. It is a total desecration of what they fought, bled, and died for on the shores of Normandy and beyond.
⚡️ U.S. Senate speaks out: Trump repeats Putin propaganda
In remarks opening the Senate, Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer called Trump's blaming Zelenskyy for the Russian invasion "disgusting" and said it distorts the truth.
"It is shameful to hear the president repeat Putin’s propaganda while laying the groundwork for negotiations that favor Russia at Ukraine’s expense," Schumer said.
Elon, how can there be a free, fair election that represents the will of the people if 6m Ukrainians are out of the country as refugees, 3.5m more are under illegal Russian occupation, martial law is in operation (prohibiting elections) and Putin’s bombing the crap out of them?
