PIMS Islamabad was completed in 1985 and stands on a vast 140-acre site. According to the latest figures, the federal government allocated Rs7.63 billion for PIMS in FY2026-27 — around Rs763 crore a year, or an average of Rs63.6 crore per month.
Last year, Rs6.84bn was allocated, while reported expenditure reached Rs7.51bn, with an additional Rs660m provided. Over the past three years, PIMS received around Rs22bn in federal funding.
The key question is: with such substantial public funding, were basic safety, fire protection and emergency preparedness adequate?
The loss of 14 innocent newborn lives at PIMS is heartbreaking. 💔
May Allah grant them Jannah and give their families sabr🤲
