I am delighted to see how the convening of the 2-day @TheREANigeria Roundtable with State Govts and DisCos availed us the opportunity to further x-ray critical issues around wider implementation of sustainable energy access nationwide, leveraging the 2023 Electricity Act.
Yesterday, my team and I joined the Honourable Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu where we spent time with the good people of Adafila community in Oyo state, assessing the 90KwP solar hybrid mini-grid deployed by @TheREANigeria through the @WorldBank-funded Nigeria Electrification Project Performance-Based Grant.
We may be witnessing the total obliteration of Gaza.
Political leaders refusing to speak out should feel eternal shame over the horror they are allowing to unfold.
Those of us who believe in peace cannot stay silent. We must say to the Palestinian people: you are not alone.
Earlier today, my colleagues and I @TheREANigeria officially briefed the newly appointed Honourable Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, and the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Power, Mr. Tope Fashedemi on the mandate of the Agency, the implementation of its various programmes as well as milestones achieved so far on the nation’s journey towards sustainable energy access.
Great conversation and very insightful feedback from all the panelists on the impact of the 2023 Electricity Act. I appreciate the recognition by @ReeeaAlliance and we all appreciate the commendation @TheREANigeria. As we continue to accelerate energy access nationwide, we must encourage more productive collaboration amongst key actors in the offgrid, renewable energy space to fast-track socioeconomic development in last-mile communities.
Yesterday @TheREANigeria, my colleagues and I received the team @Oando_PLC Clean Energy Limited (OCEL), led by Dr. @airune, the President and CEO of OCEL where we signed an MoU, enabling us to pull our collective strength to boost renewable energy access across Nigeria.
Over the years, the REA has extensively optimized Public Private Partnerships to deliver impact in the nation’s offgrid, renewable energy space. The advantages in leveraging renewable energy for sustainable development is enormous, but to continue to tap into these advantages, we must collectively facilitate data-driven energy solutions.
I am happy that just like REA, the OANDO team understands the pivotal role of renewable energy especially in Post-subsidy Nigeria and how we can leverage the technology for e-mobility, energy access and productive use. As always, the Agency will continue to work in lockstep with state governments to enable us drill down the impact of REA programmes.
Through our consistent engagement with the Nigeria Governors Forum, we continue to work with Focal Persons across all state governments and I am delighted to report back that this strategy has really helped to strengthen the REA mandate, enabling the prompt delivery of projects nationwide.
We look forward to the promising results the REA - OANDO partnership will birth. As always, our goal at the REA is not just to alleviate energy poverty across the nation but to do so at a quick pace. This is why we have been able to deepen the agency’s project footprint across the nation in a few short years.
When COVID-19 hit the world, the @NigeriaGov was quite proactive and strategic about what needed to be done to mitigate the effects of the pandemic.
One of the key focus of @TheREANigeria was to close the energy gap in isolation and treatment centers as well as primary healthcare centers to improve emergency healthcare delivery, while ensuring that the interventions continue to serve health facilities even beyond COVID-19.
With guidance from the Federal Ministry of Power, collaboration with the Ministry of Health and funding from @WorldBank, I am very happy to see these renewable energy facilities being utilized today.
Already, 50 of the projects designed for isolation and treatment centers have been completed, with 50 more to go. In line with the programme objectives, an additional 400 primary healthcare centers will equally be energized across Nigeria.
This month, we handed over 14 strategically deployed projects to healthcare institutions across South South Nigeria and just as we hoped, these systems are being properly utilized and has greatly improved healthcare delivery services in those locations.
Today in Abuja, the REA convened the 3rd Stakeholders Forum of the Energizing Education Programme EEP) Phase II, themed "Advancing Institutional Collaborations Towards Building Sustainable Green Projects".
