@Jason Idk about this. What would be the point ? There are many examples of the labs not building software and using other providers. For ex. @AnthropicAI uses @intercom for support. @SlackHQ would be shooting themselves in the foot if they close access to 3P devs.
Wait. I think it’s actually happening.
Cowork and Chat are merging into one tab??
At a training last week, I saw a few new users had layouts where their Chat and Cowork tabs were combined into a new “Home” tab.
I’ve been saying Anthropic should do this for months. It makes so much sense. But it’s also really hard to pull off from a technical perspective.
Here’s the problem with the two tabs today.
Cowork runs on your computer, using your files locally, in a virtual machine. Chat runs in the cloud.
So they live in separate worlds. Chat projects aren’t Cowork projects. Artifacts in Chat can do things Artifacts in Cowork can’t. And every new user hits the same wall: which tab am I supposed to be in?
That split makes sense technically. One is local, one is virtual. Keeping them apart is the easy engineering answer.
Merging them is the hard one. But it changes everything.
One home tab. You chat, and you do real work on the computer, in the same place. You stop guessing which tab to open, and I stop explaining the difference in every training.
It also hints at something bigger. To merge these, Anthropic probably has to move Cowork more towards a cloud or virtual server setup, or at the least, offer the builder the option between cloud and local like we see in Claude code.
That unlocks a lot: files that follow you across devices, shareable projects, and work that picks up wherever you are.
I don’t have any insider information here. From what I can tell, this looks like an A/B test for now.
And I don’t know if it will ship to everyone.
But I really hope it does, because this simple version could save people so much confusion and make the two tabs more powerful as one.
🚨 Republican Rep. Anna Paulina Luna has been caught using AI to write legislation, after the phrase "Claude responded" was accidentally left in her bill's text.
Her excuse: she was only using it to "spell-check" the national defense bill.
speech to text messages in Slack, iMessage, or wherever should have a native annotation so the person knows that you are rambling into your phone and don’t write like that
Can someone @AnthropicAI please improve the Claude skill sharing? I have people asking me every day “I shared the skill but the person I shared it with didn’t get it.” The batching of new skills is too slow or there should be a way to refresh in app.
Sure, they might not always have the best models, but it’s not just about model anymore it’s also harness and importantly product. I’d rather go with the firm building amazing product at record pace, particularly for business/enterprise.
The best way to avoid jet lag is to fly private:
"The Boeing 787 has a cabin altitude of just under 8,000 feet. In the private jet market, the Global 7500 has a cabin altitude of about 3,100 feet."
"It means that the altitude that it feels like you're at when you're flying is significantly lower than on a commercial airline, which makes a big difference for fatigue."
"There's all sorts of cool things happening right now. We're seeing airplanes that have circadian rhythm lighting—you program your destination, and it'll figure out where you are, where your destination is, and it will change the lighting around the time of day so that you can adjust your body."
