🧵 I've been at Driveline for almost 3 months and I've learned more about player development than I ever thought possible
If you're a college/high school coach wanting to turn your hitters into ANIMALS, this thread is for you 👇
A great example of why being able to swing fast and pull the ball in the air can dramatically improve the quality of a miss
Not too many cases where a batted ball with a 49° LA ends up as a homer unless you swing very fast and can hit the ball to the right part of the yard
Just one of 9 home runs to have a LA of 49° or higher in the Statcast era
Jacob Jarrell bet on himself ahead of his senior season and it translated into a monster year for the Tigers 🚀
.396 OBP | .579 SLG | .975 OPS | 18 HRs
Second Team All-ACC 🏆
Week 1 for @DavidsonBASE Theo Loughlin
Key Focus -> Rotate in Footplant to create more separation + bat speed
Theo brought up valid concerns beforehand on if that would affect direction.
It will not if done with posture and proper POC.
Making the bag deeper
Truly absurd display of power from @collinpriest13 (1B, currently in the Portal)
100th percentile Bat Speed👀
Facility MoCap EV Record (113.7mph)
Facility Distance Record (476')
@wpowell24 has put in some great work.
Here he is back in June of 2025 to his most previous reassessment last month. Quite a difference huh...
Let's look at what he improved at⬇️
Collin Priest breaks facility record 🚨
He absolutely mashed in his MoCap with us last week and broke the distance record previously held by *checks notes* Collin Priest.
He also recorded the highest bat speed number we've seen in an assessment (Florida facility).
Rotation: "Pushing" vs. "Holding the ground"
IMG's two-way star Kyler Meccage works with hitting coordinator @kozy_shack. Full swing design on YouTube ⬇️
The ability to adjust the timing of when the barrel releases & when Bat Speed peaks is important
Same hitter making contact out front & getting to the pull-side vs making contact deep & driving a ball oppo
See where your attack angle gets on plane in the swing
(Green range is 4-16 degrees)
Out front point of contact tends to be:
- Higher EV📈
- Higher AA📈
- More Damage🚀
But only if your bat path is moving the right way
AND then we still have room for error
