We are building a pipeline of talent to grow our health care workforce.
That is why we are expanding our Learn and Stay grant that pays for tuition and books to train more nurses, paramedics and lab techs to serve in communities with the greatest need.
A real win-win.
Together, we can all take action and help create positive change for people living with mental health issues. Join us on January 25th for Bell Let’s Talk Day. #BellLetsTalk

I read this quote today: “Culture is a consequence of actions rather than beliefs” (Via @andreasholmer). "Culture change" projects often fail when they focus on beliefs/values rather than actions. Better to enable culture change by doing real work in line with improvement goals.
I saw this & my heart broke. All but one of my patients today are homeless. Homelessness costs us all. A month in hospital costs $30,100, in a shelter $6,600, & supportive housing costs $2,500/mo. Make this make sense. #endhomelessness#ygk#onhealth#endpoverty

My cousins son, age 15, has gone from a vibrant elite level hockey player to requiring a walker to mobilize 25m. His POTS from long COVID and inflammation in his brain are so significant he can’t leave his bed for most of the day. #notjustacold
In the last 48 hours, 3 friends and 5 contacts have approached me for help with their teenage daughters / marathon-running Neighbours/ and partners who have become disabled by #LongCovid#POTS. Some of these people are themselves physicians. This is major crisis. #notacold
My op-ed today in @TorontoStar: by not reinstating dedicated, 24/7 drop-in spaces for #homeless people to go, we've shifted responsibility to hospitals, @torontolibrary, and the #TTC to shelter Torontonians — at a moral and fiscal cost. https://t.co/BfvJzwliaw
Powerful deputation from @DrCarolynSnider, representing all downtown emergency depts.
In the middle of a healthcare crisis, emergency depts are providing shelter and supports for homelessness because people have nowhere else to go.
We need dedicated 24/7 drop-in spaces, now.
Much of the new thinking on future public service is about the shift from transactional to relational services, including for the health & care sector. Relationships are not a priority - they're a precondition. Some great content in this blog by @noelito: https://t.co/3jXusfUd29
Huge congrats to IBH’s talented @terence_c_tang on his fellowship award! The space of AI and compassion is such an important one to explore and understand as we contemplate meaningful and equitable use of AI in Medicine. 🎉
Every company, university/college, or institution that says enough is enough and introduces a mandatory vaccination policy, is a reminder that the government is not leading the way when it comes to public health —— concerned citizens are.
There needs to be truth-telling about the reduced protection of mRNA vaccines vs symptomatic Delta infections.
It was 95% pre-Delta.
Many are claiming it's still ~80%.
It isn't.
50-60% is best estimate from all sources (not US, since we don't have the data)
During the next #publichealth crisis, will we again rely on the sheer grit of heroic individuals to craft ‘work-around’ solutions? Or will we actually invest in the infrastructure that would improve the lives of #Canadians?
