You've heard of DNA, but what about GNA? New preprint from @jacksonthorp and IBG member Andrew Grotzinger that introduces Genomic Network Analysis (GNA), an open-source multivariate tool for performing network analysis using GWAS summary statistics https://t.co/Cqrk02CFYY
Our review of the genetics of substance use disorders is out now in @molpsychiatry

We are hiring postdocs! Join the @DerksEske lab in warm and sunny Brisbane! Get in touch if you are interested in 1) multivariate genetic modelling of psychiatric/related traits; and/or 2) functional interpretation of GWAS loci/drug repurposing. More info https://t.co/Y1kCNDMGbo
An exciting study by Burstein et al. investigated the genetics of binge eating disorder. We discuss the main findings of their work

Our new paper identifying drug repurposing candidates for anxiety is out now! https://t.co/ppC3STd18B
Big congrats to @DWoodward92 for his first publication. Many more great papers to come.
My first publication is now out in Psychiatry Research! Investigating drug repurposing candidates for treatment in anxiety. Huge thanks to co-authors @zac_gerring @DerksEske@jacksonthorp@AkosileWole@egamazon & Jue-Sheng Ong @QIMRBerghofer

Ever wondered how many symptoms make up all of adult psychopathology described in the DSM-5? It’s 628!
How many do you think repeat across multiple diagnoses? If you answered 231 symptoms repeating a total of 1022 times (median 3 times per symptom, range 2-22), good job!

The last of my PhD papers is now published!
We looked at the association between depression PRS, trauma exposure, their interaction, and individual depression symptoms @PsychiatryResJ
Big thanks to @DerksEske @zac_gerring and all co-authors

Our article summarising some of the key challenges for the field of psychiatric genetics is out now in @NatureGenet. As always, an absolute pleasure to write this with @DerksEske and @zac_gerring

In a slight shift in focus, our most recent study, published today in @NatureComms, was a large GWAS meta-analysis of acne. Using data from 9 research centers around the globe we were able to identify 46 variants associated with acne risk (29 novel).
Our preprint exploring sociodemographic and genetic factors linked to optional prescription record linkage in the AGDS is out! Thanks to everyone involved in this important study!
Excited about my new preprint where we looked at genetic evidence of correlation and potential causal relationships between a panel of ~ 50 blood based biochemical markers and 10 psychiatric traits. @MurrayCairns@miffyjayne@HMRIAustralia@Uni_Newcastle. Short tweetorial 1/13
Our paper modelling symptoms of anxiety, depression and neuroticism is now out in @NatureHumBehav

Symptom-level modelling unravels the shared genetic architecture of anxiety and depression https://t.co/UjcD5EiRwq From @jacksonthorp et al. @DerksEske
Many psychiatric disorders and substance use outcomes share genetic effects. Controlling for genes associated with socio-economic outcomes changes the genetic relationships between these mental health outcomes. Our paper just out in @NatureHumBehav 🧬💸🧠

A systematic analysis of genetically regulated differences in gene expression and the role of co-expression networks across 16 psychiatric disorders and substance use phenotypes https://t.co/zpjkunHtmm #bioRxiv

Happy Friday everyone! Our new pre-print is out! In it we explore how the genetic aetiology varies through systematic addition of components in a diagnosis of major depressive disorder (impairment, duration etc.). Welcome any thoughts!
