2) how long can we wait for enough people to get there [see system as designed this way]?
MK often reminds us that she’s on a 500 year time clock, not a [whatever the urgency is telling us right now] time clock. She says it often, but here’s an example: https://t.co/Vz9rCK0egq
One of the biggest shifts in moving toward an abolitionist politic is when people move from “this system is broken” to “this system works the way it was designed” because it changes how you see what exists and also how you think about what to do next.
So who taught a young Jack Daniel how to distill what would become the world’s best-selling whiskey?
—Nathan "Nearest" Green, an enslaved Black master distiller, taught distilling techniques to Jack Daniel, founder of the Jack Daniel Tennessee whiskey.
@futurism It does sound like protecting the person slashing the same tires he’s going to steal for some reason. I’m wondering what the other edge is. Protecting people’s privacy in what way, connected to this racial hate crime? Or are you referring to another incident? I don’t understand..
@bIiss_bcs @Sale19772@JoeSaysStuff@Zwickyhumason1 @Putnam00 @AdamLMahoney @msolurin There’s a specific case (I can try to find the name unless someone else thinks faster than me) where a judge determined the job of cops does not begin until a crime has been committed. When a woman reported her stalker multiple times, until she was murdered by him, it was legal.
@trudygonzales@mistererickson@GOP What makes me rage perhaps the most about this is how critical, say, the -$400 amount is to someone making $25k a year and how piddly and inconsequential the -$50k is to someone making $1m. It’s just so 🤬
Just a friendly reminder that if you make under $75k your taxes are going up beginning this year and will increase every two years. You can thank 45 and the @GOP for this gift. They made the stepped increases part of the 2017 “tax cuts.”
@english_brooks My son told me that a teacher at his friend’s school made some ? Homophobic comments. For the next lesson all the students put up a Pride flag as their background! They are the change!
MLK went to Memphis, TN in 1968 to show solidarity with striking Black sanitation workers who were fighting for better wages, benefits, and safe working conditions. So the fact that ppl are attempting to argue against a living wage on his birthday is really wild.
