3-Day Bank Strike deferred. Late evening Sunday meeting between trade unions & associations & IBA led to this. Couldn’t the meeting have been held on Saturday? Two bankers’ lives would have been saved & 1.8 million bank employees would have escaped the harassment of Sunday banking. @IBA_org_in
Thank you @TNNavbharat and @awasthis for giving our issues the attention they deserve on ChakraView. Bank employees have been waiting far too long for 5-day banking while profits rise and staff numbers fall. Fair coverage like this matters. #5DaysBanking#BankEmployees#AIBOC #Bankstrike
Bankers are demanding five days work week.. and the system is still not listening. This is the story of why they must.
In memory of my dear friend, Durgesh Ranjan, 40, Branch Manager, of a PSB somewhere in Rural North India.
The last time we spoke, his voice was tired but glowing. He told me about the PMJJBY loans he had disbursed to the needy, how the villagers treated him like their own elder, how he called his job his life's purpose.
"Through this chair, this stamp, these papers, I get to do good for society," he said. He meant every word. He always did.
On the night of 24th September, Durgesh was found dead in his car on the Lucknow–Varanasi highway. Police recovered a letter he left behind.
The letter said: "I am ending my life myself. No one should be blamed for this. I apologise to everyone."
Even in his final moments, he was apologising. The kindest people always do.
His wife, told police he had been under stress for about a week. One week of visible stress, and behind it, years of invisible weight. A branch manager's chair in a PSB today carries impossible targets, endless audits, relentless calls, seven days of duty disguised as a job.
Durgesh never complained. Not once. He carried it all quietly, completely, alone.
He didn't fall because he was weak. He fell because he was asked to be strong every single day, without rest, without pause, without anyone saying: "Enough. Go home. Live your life."
A five-day work week is not a luxury. It is not laziness. It is not entitlement.
It is oxygen. The villagers didn't respect Durgesh because he worked seven days. They respected him because he was kind, patient, and present. A banker who has rested can serve with heart. Bankers hold entire communities together, but who holds the bankers?
Nearly 90 bank employee deaths and suicides have been reported since 2014. Durgesh is no longer just a statistic to us. He was a friend. A son. A husband. A man who helped forty-seven families sleep peacefully while his own sleep was stolen by files and targets.
No more Durgesh Ranjans. No more families shattered by a system that keeps asking for more. No public sector bank employee should ever suffer this fate again.
Five days of work. Two days of life. They deserve it. *He deserved it.
Rest in peace, brother. You should still be sitting behind that counter, laughing with your villagers, calling me at midnight about the forty-eighth family you helped.
We will keep telling your story until the rules finally change. 🙏

53 Officers have resigned from Punjab & Sind Bank since April 2026. Over 165 Officers have resigned from the Bank since April 2025. Why are Officers resigning from Punjab & Sind Bank on such a large scale?

Big revelation on Gyanesh Kumar.
Former Kerala Chief Secretary Jiji Thomson says Gyanesh Kumar approached him and asked him to contest on a BJP ticket, even offering a ministerial position.
Who was Gyanesh Kumar to make such an offer?
On whose authority was he speaking?
And why was the Election Commissioner allegedly involved in political recruitment for BJP back in 2016??
Dear Comrades,
The fight for Five-Day Banking must not be seen merely as a struggle for implementation of an agreement that has remained pending for more than 30 months. This is a fight for our existence, our dignity, our families and our fundamental right to a humane working life.
Public Sector Bank employees serve far more customers than our private-sector counterparts. Even with private banks accounting for a substantial share of the banking market, it is overwhelmingly the Public Sector Banks and their employees who carry the burden of Government-sponsored schemes, financial inclusion, social-sector banking and the last-mile delivery of public policy.
We work for institutions owned by the people and for a Government that expects us to reach every citizen. We have never shied away from that responsibility. But those who expect us to serve the nation must also recognise one simple truth:
We are not robots. We are not machines. We are not AI tools. We are human beings.
We have families waiting for us, children who need our time, parents who need our care, and lives beyond targets, reviews, late-night meetings and relentless workplace pressure.
We are not asking for privilege. We are asking for dignity, balance and justice.
The growing culture of excessive working hours, constant pressure and an increasingly toxic work environment cannot become the new normal. Five-Day Banking is one important step towards restoring humanity to our workplaces.
Save the banker. Save the banking family. Respect the commitment already made.
Five-Day Banking is not a luxury.
It is not an unreasonable demand.
It is a just demand whose time has come.
Let us stand together, for ourselves, for our families and for the generations of bankers who will come after us.
Five-Day Banking is For Dignity. For Family. For a Humane Workplace.
March ahead with courage and unity for the three-day strike from 28th to 30th September and make it a resounding success. No fear, no threat and no intimidation can weaken our collective resolve. Officers and employees stand together , we are all strikers in this historic struggle.

AIBEA has strictly warned Bank Management to behave properly. In the last few days, banks have been issuing baseless instructions to their employees and are stooping too low. On social media, banks are crying about the benefits provided to their employees. They are trying to portray their employees as villains.

Yesterday and today I visited our HO and requested available CGM and GM to support our strike and make it successful.
One CGM asked me what sort of participation you expect I said 95 pc of officers up to scale 3 will be on strike .he said no it will not be so high .I said I could have been 80 pc but DFS FIR threat has made it 95 pc .
DFS is helping us a lot in making our strike a resounding success in terms of participation.
@IndianExpress Indian Express, Now you're twisting Fact, coz it's a signed agreement between IBA (Banks) & Union, even same was answered in Parliament.
Only Govt notification pending
UFBU’s call for Strike – it is a legitimate protest action But some Managements are stopping so low They should know that it is not the end of the game
