A pleasure to chat to @edvaizey on @TimesRadio about my new book, 'Never Again? How the West Betrayed the Jews and Itself', today.
I sense that political obituarists are preparing to run with the line that @Keir_Starmer was a decent fellow, but ill-suited to politics. Honest but naïve.
Well, have a look at this and then try to tell me he was honest. The signs were there from the start.
🚨 New episode: @Mr_Andrew_Fox and I discuss the high-tech plan using advanced military sensors along the coastline to keep Hormuz open. Which Trump cancelled.

🚨 The key to understanding Trump’s betrayal on Iran is his venality and corruption.
Think about it. This is a man who slashed tariffs on the Swiss after they literally presented him with a gold bar (Google it). This is a man who slashed tariffs on Vietnam after they approved a £1.5bn Trump golf resort there. This is a man who advertised his own memecoin to crowds at the UFC fight on the White House lawn last week.
There are literally thousands such examples. According to some estimates, Trump has enriched his family by up to $6 bn since becoming president.
It’s no secret: his personal interests are deeply embedded in his foreign policy. Remember the $400m Qatari jet that was gifted to him? And the golf course? And just last week the Qataris announced $1.2 trillion of investment in the US. Put this together with the fact that President Erdogan of Turkey persuaded him to cancel the Kurdish ground invasion, scuppering the original war plan, and what do you get? Islamist manipulation.
Insiders have told me that Trump folded and surrendered to Iran due to pressure from Qatar, Turkey, Pakistan and the Saudis. (So much for Netanyahu leading him by the nose!) That’s a LOT of money right there. It is likely that his betrayal of Ukraine has a similar dynamic at its heart.
@Mr_Andrew_Fox and I discuss this and so much more — including the secret plan to defend Hormuz relying on advanced military tech, which Trump also abandoned — on today’s special episode of The Brink. On all platforms now (link in first reply)!

When is a riot not a riot? When is the grandson of Jewish emigres who fled Hitler someone to be “extremely wary” of? When @GBNEWS is involved. https://t.co/pblP2JI3Dh
POLL: ICE has been abused by the Fake News Media at levels never seen before. They are Great Patriots who work hard, and do a fantastic job in a very hostile environment. Much of this hostility is caused by the Dumocrats and the Fake News. The concept I have had for quite some time — A strong feeling that the name of these Patriots, “ICE,” should be changed to, “NICE,” in that it will totally discombobulate Crooked, Dishonest, and Unpatriotic Reporters and Journalists. For them to say, “We went to a NICE Facility today,” as opposed to “ICE” or, “NICE Agents have deported a Violent Drug Dealer,” they won’t be able to handle it, they will go totally crazy! All it means is adding an “N” (“National”) to “ICE (“Immigration and Customs Enforcement”) — A much more prestigious name. Everyone loves it, but I have been told by the legendary Tom Homan that the Agents do not love it as much as the other population. Who thinks that we should add an “N” to change the name of “ICE” to “NICE?”
Thank you for your attention to this matter! President DJT
Iran is threatening to fire ballistic missiles at Israel again tonight.
We cannot accept a new status quo where the fundamentalist lunatics in Tehran threaten to bomb Israel three times a week to extort more concessions from the US.
This cannot become the new normal.
Today I’m beginning a pilgrimage through the Holy Land with my brother in Christ, Archbishop Hosam Naoum.
I bring the prayers and solidarity of the Church of England and Anglican Communion, assuring our Palestinian Christian sisters and brothers they are not forgotten.

It was deeply shocking and moving to visit the @novaexhibition in London this week, and a privilege to meet with relatives of those who were murdered in the 7 October attacks.
Show me a continental authoritarian of Right or Left who rails against 'degenerate Anglo-Saxon liberalism'...
...and 99 times out of 100 I will show you an antisemite.

So while all eyes were fixed on Israeli strikes in Lebanon, Egyptian warplanes reportedly assaulted Jabal Al-Aqaydat, a major artisanal gold mining area in Sudan's River Nile State, on Tuesday. At least 35 civilians were killed and about 80 injured, according to testimonies collated by Sudan Peace Tracker.
Which brings us to an overwhelming question: did Egyptian aircraft violate Sudanese airspace to kill Sudanese citizens on Sudanese soil? When asked, Sudan's military failed to respond. Egypt did not even acknowledge the attack. But… free Palestine, amirite?
That official silence tells the real story. For some world powers, democratic accountability is not only disregarded, it is viewed with contempt. But nobody in the West seems to give two hoots about the real world.
In February, the New York Times reported that Egypt had established a covert base at East Oweinat, deep inside Sudan, used to launch drone operations into local territory. The base has been operational for months. Yet when Egyptian aircraft massacre Sudanese innocents on Sudanese soil, Khartoum says nothing, Cairo shrugs and the world just couldn’t care less.
Traumatised survivors were more candid than any official. "Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan himself has become a soldier taking orders from Abdel Fattah El-Sisi,” one remarked.
For anyone trying to understand the structural reality of Sudan's war, which goes hand-in-hand with the narcissistic myopia of the West, that line tells you more than any diplomatic communiqué.
