As someone who stopped drinking 1000 days ago, this has not been my experience. I still go to bars. The problem is that I’m usually not invited. Why? Folks who attach shame to their drinking don’t want to be reminded of it by a sober guy.
unpopular opinion but the whole "no drinking" vibe is correlated with a massive spike in social isolation. yes, binge drinking is bad, but going out for a glass of wine or a beer with friends on the regular actually has positive effects that outweigh the negative
health optimization bros cutting alcohol consumption to zero, hitting the gym with headphones on, and going home to empty apartments are the loneliest people on this planet. happy friday
@AmyClukey I realize what I’m about to say is quite Polyana-ish, but what helped me in university was understanding the effects of cheating on me: I would be faking mastery in something I didn’t want to do so that I could progress on doing stuff I didn’t want to do.
