Ich wollte immer am Spielfeldrand der Bundesliga stehen. Und jetzt sind meine Bilder bei Sky, der Sportschau, beim Kicker und DEM OFFIZIELLEN BUNDESLIGA ACCOUNT. Is das alles geil. Never stop dreaming. 😭✊
A man in Turkey started feeding a stray cat that kept showing up outside his store.
Now named Şakir, the cat returns every morning, climbs into his arms and hugs his neck before heading back out for the day. ❤️
Back from Gamescom, and outside of the obvious thefts issue, there is a lot they could do better with their staff training.
Most of their people ONLY speak German. for me as a Belgian person, I can understand and kind of reply, but would still prefer to converse in English.
I've seen staff yell at people just kindly asking them information. Often while being forcibly guided away from where they needed/wanted to be, and without the option to go back or speak to anyone about their worries.
I had to help someone having a panic attack because of how rude the staff treated them. they just wanted to know if they could leave the premises and get back in, as the exit required scanning their QR code and they got worried entrance was single use. The guard just yelled in their face (visible spit included)
I myself was guided into the crowded main entrance waiting queue on the first day. My Trade ticket should have allowed me to use a different entrance, but once I was pushed into the larger group, it was impossible to return.
My bag, filled to the brim (with metal coins among others) was only checked once in 3 days and just opening 1 pocket was enough for them.
People in full cosplay werent checked to verify if their very visible gun was real or fake.
Speaking of cosplay, I saw visible mockery of some cosplayers and male guards taking pics of female cosplayers. (Remember: Cosplay ≠ consent)
At the ticket gate, my QR code wouldn't scan. I wanted to go explain to the nearest security guard, but got yelled off by a woman shouting "Nur Ausgang" (= only exit) to me because I stepped off to the side to ask why my code didnt work.
Turns out if you installed the Gamescom app last year, even after an update & new login this year, it would still show your 2025 QR code. Luckily this was explained to me by another more friendlier member of staff who intervened.
My friends from @pr_hound were denied entry on Wednesday evening, to attend the Xbox Fan Fest event, because the Gamescom staff denied them entrance. They didnt know about the on-site event. They spent hours on the train for nothing. 😢
For an event of this scale, and lets be honest: generating millions in income, I don't think it's too much to ask to:
- have staff who can speak English
- are trained in security protocols
- are friendly to visitors
- know about the different types of tickets & events.
This was my 8th time at Gamescom and I feel like it's getting worse every year, not better.
I really hope they try to do better.
Met a German founder this week and asked him if all the stories one reads about the challenges of startups in Germany are exaggerated. "No, they're understated." Proceeded to describe spending a full day having a 90-page investment contract read to him (mandatory under German law; § 13 BeurkG) by a notary that then charged €30,000. That was for his first company. His second company, needless to say, was not incorporated in Germany.
I will never invest in a company incorporated in Germany again. The lawyers and notary cartel have destroyed that market.
You really do have to sit listen to them read the whole fucking contract. With expensive lawyers.
