Last night, the @UMich Regents called our demand for a modest living wage of $38k "unrealistic". The estimated combined fortunes of only two of them would be enough to fund a living wage for more than 278 years. They could fund it for 218 years and still be billionaires.
No graduate student worker should be living in poverty while the University of Michigan sits atop a $17 billion endowment. These 2,500 workers deserve safe working conditions and living wages. The University must bargain a fair contract immediately.
