@SandyofCthulhu Thanks for history lesson, Sandy! Is it fair to call Viva Piñata a flop when it sold over a million copies in its lifetime? If we inlcude sales of "Trouble in Paradise" — which was more of an expansion than a true sequel — Viva Piñata performed about as well as Age of Mythology.
@Phaet0nn@Grummz I share your overall skepticism, but I don't think the comparison is quite fair. The GTA VI cover uses pastel colors with a much lower saturation; they're clearly paying homage to the look and feel of Miami Vice.
@SWT_Channel I agree! My single biggest criticism is that Kanan and Hera never got married, yet somehow still had a baby — a big problem for a show purportedly for children (even Anakin and Padmé had the decency to elope!) and a huge missed opportunity from a stortelling perspective as well.
But they share several visual design elements beyond that: each woman has an elegant, conical silhouette, one eye concealed by her hair, and a jewel between her breasts. All three wear high heels and appear to be exceptionally tall.
Thematically, all three characters can be associated with motherhood and nurturing — to some degree. Lusamine's motherly nature is merely a facade. And while Cynthia is a mentor to the player, her "motherliness" is mostly derived from extratextual internet memes.
Alas, I don't think Disney has learned their lesson yet. The character portrayed in this video isn't the Princess Leia we know and love, but merely Girlboss Han Solo.
But isn't this a false choice, Dr. @FeserEdward? After all, Jesus's eternal kingdom is not of this world. The choice I see before me right now is MAGA on the American Right vs. Neo-Marxism on the American Left, and it's every American Catholic's duty to vote, guided by a well-formed consciece, for the lesser of two evils.
@ChristopherHale If you had been listening to @michaeljknowles and @andrewklavan more carefully, you would have learned that only fools have original thoughts, and that the Gods of the Copybook Headings outlast them all.
@ChristopherHale It seemed pretty darn miraculous to me! Perhaps the Lord in His mercy spared not only Trump but our entire nation from the great political violence that would have ensued had the bullet found its mark.
This is one of dangers of generative AI. Whether or not it was the President's intent, the imagery here suggests that Trump is Christ. Jesus is traditionally depicted wearing red and white garments to symbolize His fully human and fully divine natures (although sometimes blue is used instead of white).
I voted for Trump three times, but I still think he should delete the picture.
@ChristopherHale But when the White House invited a Catholic Bishop to deliver a prayer earlier this Holy Week you claimed it was scandalous for him to participate. Damned if you do, damned if you don't; there is simply no pleasing you!
@TheMangoViking My kids would love it! I actually tried to purchase, but it failed to add to cart and then my IP address was blocked by the Pokémon Center website. OOS now🤦♂️
Very easy to come up with just 10:
1) Super Mario 64 (GOAT)
2) Ocarina of Time / Majora's Mask (GOAT)
3) StarFox 64 (GOAT)
4) Super Smash Bros. (GOAT)
5) Star Wars: Rogue Squadron (Excellent)
6) Paper Mario (Excellent)
7) Banjo-Kazooie / Tooie (Excellent)
8) Pokémon Stadium 1 & 2 (Good)
9) Mario Kart 64 / Diddy Kong Racing (Good)
10) GoldenEye 007 / Perfect Dark (Good, but aged poorly)
But a list of 20 great games is much, much harder.
Alas, Mr. Kirkhope, what's so brilliant about mocking Christianity and Judaism?
The people who erected this offensive display aren't practicing their freedom of religion because they don't actually believe in anything transcendent. Just like the Devil, the only God they worship is themselves.
It sounds absolutley beautiful! But it's not clear to my untrained ear that this new recording and mix is definitively better than the original 2009 CD. (Perhaps I'll start to feel differently after repeated listening!) But most of all, I was surprised to learn that aren't any new tracks inlcuded in this version; it's a one-to-one remake. Can someone here help explain what I'm missing? (I'd ask Grant Kirkhope, but he blocked me on Twitter.)
🎉 The party starts today! 🎉

@EckhartsLadder He gets shot at point blank by the better and more menacing version of his character: General Pryde. But the fault lies with Rian Johnson who had already turned Hux into an absoutle buffoon from the opening scene of The Last Jedi. There was no good place for this character to go.
