ICE killing #AlexPretti should remind you of police killing #PhilandoCastille. Both men had concealed weapon permits, did not draw their guns, & were killed in Minn. These homicides are the price of unaccountable policing. The deaths are variations of the same fatal theme.
TODAY: Hundreds of thousands in Minnesota braved -10°F weather to march through downtown Minneapolis as part of the statewide general strike demanding ICE out of the Twin Cities.
The protester killed in Minnesota was openly armed, which is legal in that state. So if the govt. is going to claim that was a legitimate reason to kill him, then the Trump administration has unilaterally repealed the Second Amendment.
This man was a hero. Despite the gas and the beatings, he protected the woman. That was his goal. He never attacked. The Border Patrol immobilized him, beat him, disarmed him and then killed him.
This order is key to understanding what happened: first they immobilize him and disarm him, that is, he was no longer a threat, and then they shoot him several times.
This was an extrajudicial execution, and if the chain of command defends it, then it is a state policy.

It’s striking how many family members of Israelis who were murdered or kidnapped are asking the government not to use their grief to kill more people. It seems to me that if in the worst days of their lives they can keep their humanity, the rest of us can follow their example.
