John Lennon and Paul McCartney travel from Liverpool to Skegness, Lincolnshire, to ask drummer Ringo Starr to join The Beatles. Starr is performing with Rory Storm & the Hurricanes at Butlin’s holiday camp when Lennon and McCartney make their offer. Starr accepts, setting in motion one of the most consequential lineup changes in rock history. He officially joins The Beatles later that month, replacing Pete Best.
