#SemaNaCitizen

Deeply saddened by the passing of my dear friend and former Prime Minister of Kenya, Mr. Raila Odinga. He was a towering statesman and a cherished friend of India. I had the privilege of knowing him closely since my days as Chief Minister of Gujarat and our association continued over the years. He had a special affection for India, our culture, values and ancient wisdom. This was reflected in his efforts to strengthen India-Kenya ties. He particularly admired Ayurveda and traditional medicine systems of India, having witnessed their positive impact on his daughter's health. I extend my deepest condolences to his family, friends and to the people of Kenya in this hour of grief.

It is an honour to participate in ASCENT Week 2025, Session 2 of the ASCENT-GREEN Program, which is dedicated to advancing resilient energy access as a driver of inclusive growth. This forum brings together governments, investors, and development partners to exchange ideas and chart pathways that align sustainability with shared prosperity, while also providing an opportunity to highlight Kenya’s leadership in renewable energy.
Through the Public–Private Partnership framework, Kenya continues to demonstrate the transformative impact of green investment. More than 80 percent of our electricity is now generated from clean sources, and strategic PPP projects are steadily extending reliable energy to underserved communities. These initiatives are central to the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda, creating jobs, unlocking enterprise, and securing a climate-resilient future for all Kenyans.
