@offgridteacher Does your child have two parents? The wage gap is the product of many families deciding that it’s ’not worth it’ for fathers to parent just as much as mothers do. It IS worth it.
@Freyy_is Listened to a great podcast about the em-dash. They were used HEAPS in Shakespeare’s works. It’s annoying when someone who is simply literate is told their writing must be AI.
@TolentinoTeach 2/2: afford the holiday she was planning. Utter BS - she knows how often and how many places I have travelled. But I did like helping her with that assignment!!
@TolentinoTeach 1/2: My kid’s teacher made them complete a what-job-do-you-want thing. Later in the year they had to plan a holiday and do all the costings etc BUT based on the income they’d have from the job they told him they wanted. The only problem was that he told her a teacher couldn’t
@TheStudentLeads My primary children are horrified when we sing She’ll Be Comin’ Round the Mountain! Verse ‘we’ll kill the old red rooster when she comes’ and then ‘we’ll all have chicken and dumplings’. I take that as a chance to ask where do they think cooked chicken comes from?
@adam_voigt@mattoman71 Students at my Aus schools sang an Acknowledgement of Country, and LOVED singing the NZ anthem along with ours, plus a great song that says the younger generation will keep the flame burning. The kids have got this.
@SandyHorne61@boyfrombruce Two bounced into the side of my car last year. I was only driving at 80 on a 110 limit road (because it was roo o’clock) but they are seriously so dumb! No real damage but wrecked the parking sensor so $4K to repair.
@Skymazef3 Same, I find myself drawn to those videos! Bottom line seems to be work out what your actual spending is, so I’ve been keeping a detailed spreadsheet for 2 years now. Hubby doesn’t want to think about it and I think he’d be surprised to know what we spend in each category!
@offgridteacher My friends and I used to write a bespoke Christmas play every year - an evening with wine at one of our houses got it done! Great fun but we are so short of time now.
@sage_stage If a student is at risk of achieving a D or below, we reach out. Admin asks us not to contact families of students for whom this is no surprise and 6 or 8 calls would be upsetting - a child in that situation already has plans in place which include parents.
