We're excited officially to launch Therapy First's inaugural conference.
➡️ IDENTITIES IN THE THERAPY ROOM: What is Unfolding?
The clinicians participating in this conference share a commitment to building the professional bridges we urgently need, and to finding common ground in support of our profession and those we serve.
Our keynote speaker is JONATHAN SHEDLER, PhD
Jonathan Shedler, PhD, is internationally recognized as an author, researcher, and clinical teacher. He is best known for his article The Efficacy of Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, which won worldwide acclaim for demonstrating that psychoanalytic therapy is an evidence-based treatment.
Dr. Shedler’s research and writing continue to shape contemporary understanding of personality and its central role in psychotherapy. He is the author of more than 100 scientific and scholarly articles, the creator of the Shedler–Westen Assessment Procedure (SWAP) for personality diagnosis and case formulation, and co-author of the Psychodynamic Diagnostic Manual (PDM-3).
Dr. Shedler lectures internationally, leads workshops for professional audiences, consults to U.S. and international government agencies, and provides expert supervision and consultation to clinicians worldwide. He is a Clinical Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) and a Training and Supervising Analyst at the San Francisco Center for Psychoanalysis.

BREAKING: 1st Detransitioner to Take a Medical-Malpractice Lawsuit to Trial Wins $2 Million Judgement
Fox Varian sued her Westchester, NY, area psychologist and plastic surgeon for the gender-transition mastectomy she got at 16.
I was the only reporter to attend the entire 3-week, historic trial. Subscribe to my Substack to receive an alert about the feature article I have coming out next week in a major publication out about the trial: https://t.co/dQRHZHqWHn. I cover pediatric gender medicine as a specialty on my Substack.
Sorry to just give just a teaser for now about the case! But I wanted to get the word out about the verdict promptly, the slower pace of feature-article publishing notwithstanding.
The entire case file was put under seal when the trial started (although I obtained all those documents before they was sealed), and all the transcripts from the trial are also under seal. The riveting trial was sparsely attended and there was only one other reporter at the trial; and he only attended for part of it and, as I observed, took few notes. So my own hundreds of pages of notes from the trial will likely remain the only way for the public to learn about the all finer details of what transpired, possibly ever (or until an appeal, should that happen).
In addition to my article coming out in the media outlet soon, I intend to write a lot about what I observed and learned on my Substack over the coming weeks. Stay tuned…
@moveincircles Where humans have control, we choose standardization, not diversity. There is a reason God is indifferent. If he listened to us, we wouldn’t exist.
Newly revealed document shows that Meta has internal ethical standards--approved by its chief ethicist--that allow its chatbots to engage children in conversations that are "sensual". Also OK to generate sexual and violent images for kids.

Technology is like magic: it can give you "instant, effortless power." But when you give such power to kids, it undermines the effort needed to learn and grow into a "morally formed" adult. Andy Crouch @ahc lays out the problem, at https://t.co/jM1YTSTVnV

No. But it was a stupid one. Hence the response.
Okay, I’ll do the gender critical catechism if it will satisfy you.
Men are not women.
Women should have single only sex spaces.
Trans ideology is bullshit.
Minors should not be given life altering surgeries to affirm their identities.
And Trump is a patriarchal authoritarian rapist.
@GeorgiaXCross@LesleySemmens We have blown out all boundaries that provided us with “natural” forms of safeguarding and exposed ourselves to the raw elements that society is designed to protect us from.
We will embark on a mass mailing campaign, thanks to a donation from ReIME. Thank you! @JaneCWheeler We are working on a Spanish translation. We have shorter & longer versions depending on needs. We are US-based, but these issues exist in many Western countries.
@LeorSapir First do no harm. Do no harm surreptitiously. Do no harm brazenly. Do no harm, regardless of the motive for doing it. Do no harm even if the patient requests it. Medicine is not a "service"; it is a vocation. It has a telos: the maintenance and restoration of health. Do no harm.
@WHO responded to public concern by extending comment deadline to Feb 2. WHO also clarified that it won't make any recommendations for children & adolescents due to limited evidence regarding long-term outcomes of affirmative care for youth.

@heterodorx@DefinedUniquely This is supposed to recall the AIDS crisis, where death mobilized a community and changed its national status. But unlike AIDS it is mere performance.
We experimented on women's sport and found out it wasn't fair.
We experimented medically on children and found out it wasn't safe.
We conducted a social experiment on children in schools and that is being looked at now.
Whatever happened to gathering facts and evidence first?
4./ Why are giant organisations like America's @HRC churning out clickbait about JK Rowling when she too is only doing what Gittings did, trying to stop young people being medicalised by ghouls? The sad truth is @HRC and much of our entitled LGBTQ+ lobby is morally bankrupt.
