A Taliban-affiliated X account, created to allegedly verify information and named “Fake News,” claimed that the Afghanistan Freedom Front’s (AFF) report of a targeted killing of a Taliban member in Ghazni was false, stating that no such incident had occurred in the province.

@AGTAfghanistan claims that yesterday’s explosion in Mehtarlam, Laghman, was not an accidental gas-cylinder explosion, as reported by Taliban officials, but an attack targeting a Taliban Ministry of Defense vehicle in the city. The group said it refrained from releasing evidence or video footage to protect the security of its operatives.

US citizen Todd Adam Baker, who lived and worked in Afghanistan for around a decade, was reportedly detained by Taliban from his residence in Mazar-i-Sharif on 17 July. His family and associates have had no contact with him since. Reports claim his detention may be linked to unverified allegations of promoting Christianity.
The Taliban have yet to confirm his detention or location.

Pro-Taliban sources published videos and photographs claiming that the attackers involved in the assault on Yaftal-e Payan district in Badakhshan were pursued and arrested. In a post on X, the provincial police headquarters stated that, due to the absence of district officials during the Friday holiday, a group of "irresponsible armed men" attacked the district centre. The statement added that security forces were rapidly deployed, repelled the attackers, arrested some individuals, and continued pursuing others who had fled.
The newly emerged Homeland Soldiers Front (HSF), led by Qayum Malang, a former Republic-era government security officer from the same district, claimed responsibility for the attack.

While Afghans remain grateful for the international community’s assistance to vulnerable people in Afghanistan, including the UK’s generous £105 million annual aid contribution, many hope that the funds genuinely reach those in need. They want ensuring that humanitarian aid is not lost to excessive administrative costs of international organisations and NGOs, or diverted into the hands of the Taliban, who have been accused of extracting resources through widespread taxation and coercion.

The Taliban's Ministry of Defence released details of the drone strikes carried out on Tuesday evening in Pakistan's Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provinces. According to the ministry, Taliban drones struck what it described as a joint Islamic State Khorasan Province (ISKP) and "mischief and corruption" facility in the Saranan area of Pishin District, Balochistan, alleging the site was used to plan attacks inside Afghanistan and coordinate operations linked to recent cross-border bombardments.
The ministry also claimed that separate drone strikes targeted an alleged ISKP facility in the Qamber Khel area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and another joint ISKP and "mischief and corruption" camp in the Garm Chashma area of the Shah Salim Valley in Chitral. These claims have not been independently verified.
