Where in Europe is the best place to produce green hydrogen? That’s a question many project developers and governments are trying to answer right now, as the continent seeks to ditch fossil fuels and reach net-zero emissions by mid-century. 1/7
A new tool developed by Agora Industry shows which European regions can be most competitive when deploying additional wind 🌬 and solar 🌞 power facilities for the first wave of renewable hydrogen production by 2030.

How will green and blue hydrogen compete with natural gas and with each other?
New paper combines ranges for direct cost developments and residual emissions.
Importantly, CO2 & methane pricing or emission regulation will have an increasing impact.

@JesseJenkins@finmuc_schmidt Does the time matching really the same between EU and US? I thought the US was going on a yearly basis for the next 5 years
Did you know that the H2O requirement for H2 production goes way beyond what is usually (stoichiometrically) calculated for H2O electrolysis and steam CH4 reforming processes?
This means that relying on fossil feedstock for H2 production with carbon capture will ultimately increase H2O consumption worldwide without speaking of its highly questionable climate mitigation effect…
