Lähinnä sähköisestä energiataloudesta kiinnostunut. #stateoftheart clean energy electric economy & its applications. @regeneranssi podcastin vakiokasvo
"To have, or not to have- that is the question", like Hamlet faced the dilemma on minerals.
Geological survey of Finland (GTK) and their A/Prof S. Michaux faced too, and answered:
“World doesn’t have enough mineral reserves for the energy transition”
What's that all about?🧵
The result of yet another massive Russian bombardment of Ukrainian cities last night: at least 18 people killed, including two children. In Kyiv alone, at least 79 people were injured.
More than 70 missiles. More than 650 drones.
And somehow I still don't see all the usual suspects -- Putin fans and advocates of Ukraine's capitulation under terror -- wringing their fucking hands and tearing their hair out here on Twitter over Russia's mass murder of civilians.
From energy consumer to clean energy security provider.
The Baltic States 🇪🇪🇱🇻🇱🇹 clean electricity production was 79% of their overall demand in May (so far).
15 out of 29 days, their combined peak clean electricity production was higher than the concurrent demand.
Five years ago May 2021, clean electricity sources provided only 39% of the total demand so the countries were reliant on imported electricity, and fossil fuels.
This is clean energy security transition in full swing. Imagine where they will be 3-5 years from now.
We have this little real estate battery project which I'm coordinating and found out that it is impossible to find common nominator on how market prices between 5-25 kWh battery packs are set.
You may end up paying 4-5 times more on the similar spec battery if you don't do the proper evaluation before investment.
Out of 182 batteries (181 LFP) available in Finnish market it is impossible to find common nominator or median value.
As the utility scale BESS project costs has plummeted down globally, it seems that only part of the smaller scale resellers has translated those decreasing costs into real estate battery market. A heads up call.

New from me w/ @theBTI
Disruptive innovation in heavy industry is exceedingly rare; we still smelt aluminum and make ammonia using 100+ y/o processes. To reindustrialize, decarbonize, and grow the economy, we must formally study what drives innovation in heavy industry 🧵
@ReijoAnttila Markkinatalous ei ratkaise kaikkia päästöttömien teknologioiden tarvittavaa kehittymistä kuten tähänkään mennessä, jos päästöillä ei ole hintaa.
Electric car sales rose to new records in nearly 100 countries in 2025 – and close to 30% of all cars sold globally this year are set to be electric
Battery price declines & policy responses to the current energy crisis can add to EVs' momentum

@soija1939@tomppajo High temperature industrial heat is needed in many cases, and aluminum is one of them but I doubt that can that industry have new process innovations. In that case we would mostly utilize our electricity as resource. Not bad in itself but the goal should be higher.
Instead of hydrogen, Finland should utilize its relative abundance of clean electricity to provide scale up market conditions & opportunitues for high temperature industrial heat electrification.
Could have not said it better myself. Obviously there can be even lower hanging fruits in the low-to medium-temperature industrial heat but if we want challenges, high-temperature will be the hardest case. On the other hand those are the companies from innovations to scale-ups that can become the industrial technology leaders such as the likes mentioned above.
@soija1939@tomppajo We are talking about the refining and manufacturing of primary (and in some case secondary) materials. Most of these industries are already present or have plans in Finland but the ground braking clean innovations are not yet commercial. We could provide relevant conditions.
