"Just as an iron sword, when placed in the fire, remains an iron sword but takes on the properties of the fire—it becomes incandescent, gives light, burns, and heats—thus participating in the fire without losing its own nature, so too the human being, through divine grace, remains human in his nature but becomes a partaker of the divine life, light, and fire, being deified without being confused with the essence of God."
Saint Maximus the Confessor
O Lord Jesus Christ,
teach me to thank Thee even in sorrow.
Let my heart find peace in Thy will,
and my suffering become a step toward Thee.
For Thou art good, and Thy mercy endures forever.
Amen.

"When love for God grows cold, it inevitably turns into hatred for man, because then everyone looks only to their own interest and seeks to indulge as much as possible in the physical pleasures of life.
But what is the result? Regret, unhappiness, loneliness. The world of pleasures that is promoted through advertisements and the media is a world of death, a culture of death.
This world, which is heading toward self-destruction, has been conquered only by the Life that rose from the tomb. From the Resurrection of the Lord a new world has dawned, and only when someone lives in Christ will they be able to overcome the powers of death.
Do not think that we can stand with human means against abortions, euthanasia, or the temptations of creating the superhuman that is being prepared in the laboratories of Silicon Valley.
Only with the power of the Cross will man be able to find not only love - which is the life and energy of God - but also humanity itself. Otherwise, the world will become a jungle.
The world today clearly shows us that there is no middle path to choose: either Christ - the Lord of eternal life - or the devil, the ruler of this world. And life, which is the source of love - where shall we find it if not in the Church, in the Body of Christ?"
Excerpt from the interview with Archimandrite Elisei, abbot of the Holy Monastery of Simonopetra on Mount Athos, published in the magazine Martyria.
The spirit behind Protestantism is identical to the spirit behind every Pagan ideology that has ever persecuted the Church. That should tell you something.
