@waltmossberg I totally agree. I'm not a cryer but I admit to tears on reading the Breaking News alert on the BBC. I was genuinely impressed by his life and service and his presence. I also covered him and his integrity was impressive.
@peterhlewis@edbott@stevesi@waltmossberg I seem to remember running up the down escalator in New York at the Javitz center seeing you at PC Expo that summer. Wow 30 years......
@susietimm But this reason for autologous donation is nuts. It's like saying, I'll only accept blood from a vegan, or someone who doesn't eat shellfish. This can open the door to all sorts of invidious ideas.
@susietimm I had surgery in Washington DC in 1987, at Georgetown Hospital and was advised to donate my own blood in case I needed a transfusion. I did donate the blood, but didn't need it so it was released to the national blood supply.
@susietimm It's called being an autologous donor and it was very important during the AIDS crisis in the 80s when there were fears the national blood supply was contaminated. You probably don't remember the stories of people getting AIDS from donated blood. But it was a very real scare.
@waltmossberg@thebeatles I remember hearing "Love Me Do" on the radio in October 1962. I was 8. And they were incredible. I was in the back of the car and asked my mom to turn it up. We heard it several times that day and within minutes were singing along. Great times!
@jonhenley@BritishInEurope @fjgodfrey Nowhere in the online form does it state that you have to have a visa or a titre de sejour to apply. However without one you can't complete the online form. This is a form for British nationals who came BEFORE Jan 1, 2021 when an EU passport was all you needed. It's a mess!
@RandyRainbow You are what we have to be thankful for. You have kept family sane and safe these past months. Couldn't have done it without you. Xxxxxxxx
