#WATCH | Delhi: On the All India Bank Employees' Association's strikes, General Secretary, AIBEA, CH Venkatachalam says, "...for the past 10 years in banks, the second and fourth Saturdays have been holidays as per our demand, while on the first and third Saturdays, we work full days. We have been asking to declare all Saturdays as holidays. For that, we have agreed to work 40 minutes more from Monday to Friday to extend customer service...but for two years, this has been agreed to by the Indian Banks' Association and signed in the settlement, then referred to the government. However, the government has been keeping it pending... Second, in the banks, we have a bilateral system where we sign settlements on service conditions bilaterally. We also have a system to provide performance-based incentives for each bank. Depending on the profit, each bank gives an incentive of 5, 10, or 15 days, which is uniform from the sweeper to the general manager. Now, the government has unilaterally interfered...we are asking them to discuss the matter with the union and resolve it, but the government remains adamant. On these two issues, we have given a call for a one-day strike on September 11, followed by a three-day strike on September 28, 29, and 30. If the issue is still not resolved, there will be a continuous indefinite strike starting from October 26..."
