10 years ago, I thought "programming is too hard, I'll make tools to make it easier"
5 years ago, I thought "I'll make a new language to make it easier"
now I'm working on tools to make "making new languages" easier 😂
@RalphCHancock and yet portray their positions in absurd caricature. If you were to say to Steve "so you claim that the dissident or estranged is always perfectly innocent" can you imagine him saying "yes that is a faithful description of my position"?
@RalphCHancock I have not; I got a preread manuscript that did not yet have the forward included. I would love to hear your thoughtful criticism of the book. Can you see how the lines I quoted weaken your credibility? You rail against their rejection of alternate possibilities (1/2)
@RalphCHancock > Any consideration of the possibility that dissidents might be in the wrong and not always, necessarily the best judges of their own choices is dismissed at the outset. The dissident or estranged is always perfectly innocent and even wise.
These are pretty strong claims!
@KimballCall Hi Kimball! Would you be willing to articulate your working definition of "racism" or "racist"?
> To briefly push back on what seem to be Hugh’s priors, I think Republicans, conservatives, and even Donald Trump are genuinely not racist.
Introducing Zero
The programming language for agents.
I wanted a systems language that was faster, smaller, and easier for agents to use and repair.
Explicit capabilities. JSON diagnostics. Typed safe fixes.
Made for agents on day zero.
@j_divis Ok I know this is a drive-by, but I just wanted to put in a plug for developing deep friendships with folks from other religions. I've learned a lot about christian life from Catholics.
One of my “go to” lines for years has been that the sign of success for a country isn’t that poor people drive cars, but that rich people ride the subway…
@mholt6 the value of anything that is mass producible quickly falls to that of its raw utility, and things that are non-utilitarian (fashion, art, media) have most of their value tied up in novelty/uniqueness/"human touch" and so the value collapses entirely

@ryanburge While this chart does indicate that "there must be some on both sides who say it's important and don't go", it seems tricky to interpret. Could you make one that's just "% of folks (D vs R) who say it's important that actually go" would also be interesting for the flipside too
