The idea that this apt building would be out of character for the neighborhood is laughable. It's 1 block away from downtown Urbana, on the same block as a grocery store.

What about in communities that need more housing, but are oversupplied in vacant ground floor commercial space?
Wouldn't a mixed-use zone where either (ground floor commercial OR ground floor residential) can be developed be ideal?
@chicagoanthony_@thematthill The state is still owed over $400M from the stadium renovations they covered in 2003. This will fall on IL taxpayers.
The Bears are demanding $850M from IL taxpayers to help them build the new development.
The long history of stadium financing shows that taxpayers usually lose.
