@Ramanan_V I re-built this chart using modern data using Fred2. U.S. private sector is sitting in a comfortable surplus position, which is the exact opposite of the "unsustainable" debt-fueled growth Godley warned about in the late 90s.
every year the US ruling class kills 100,000 Americans and levies a $1 trillion tithe because the healthscam system they've imposed on us works for them. It's like a civil war, but only one side, the rich, are doing the killing
An unidentified drone struck and punctured a naphtha storage tank at Libya’s 🇱🇾 Zawiya oil refinery earlier today, triggering a massive fire at the facility.
Located 40 km west of Tripoli, Zawiya is Libya’s largest refinery with processing capacity of around 120,000 barrels/day.
Grocery margins are low is a frequently rehashed point to argue against Mamdani’s public grocery stores.
Grocery is indeed a low margin business. But its median return on invested capital is above that for all firms, so it is NOT a low profitability business.
Let me explain. 🧵
In 1964 Richard Feynman picked up one piece of chalk and explained the exact problem every AI lab is burning billions on in 2026.
The BBC filmed it. It has been free for 60 years. Almost nobody has watched it.
His point: nature only ever answers in mathematics. Every lab trying to force a language model to "reason" is slamming into the same wall Feynman mapped 62 years ago.
He was 46 here. The Nobel came 11 months later. The reels survived and now sit on YouTube with fewer views than a keyboard unboxing.
Skip to the blackboard in the middle. He takes one of Kepler's laws and rebuilds it from zero, in notation a 12-year-old can follow.
No slides. No jargon. One piece of chalk.
An ML engineer I know paused it 4 times and made his whole team watch it before standup.
You're 62 years late. It is still free.
Hansard records the first use in Parliament of the term “taxpayers’ money” by Sir Stafford Northcote, Chancellor of the Exchequer, on 5 June 1877. However, it seems to become particularly normalised from the mid-1970s onwards. @GrkStav
A man clapped once during public comment at a data-center zoning meeting in Emporia, Kansas.
They arrested him.
Remember... no dissent allowed!
Just be silent like an obedient domesticated taxpayer while they fast‑track a data center in your backyard.
Under a Binface government, anyone who doesn’t accept human-made climate change as fact will be sent back to school, from Year 1 right the way to A Levels, to see if anything goes in the second time round. #VoteBinface
Ben Affleck's mother Chris Affleck passed today. I was unaware of her longstanding activism for Palestine. Now his disgust and revulsion at genocidal Zionist Bill Maher and Sam Harris's deranged racist Islamophobic rants makes perfect sense. RIP, you raised a good son.
The debate over MMT isn't absent because the economics is hard. It's absent because accepting MMT means rethinking what economics is for.

The richest 1% now have as much wealth as the bottom 90% of America combined.
This is exactly why the Trump administration is fearmongering about communism.
They are trying to make communism the “boogeyman” to deflect from the fact that capitalism is robbing you blind.
@RichardJMurphy I think the small govt is a common misconception. Neoliberalism requires the state define and protect property rights, contract law, competition rules, corporate charters, bankruptcy regimes, and currency, busting monopolists, cartels, and democratic majorities (organized labor)
Extremely timely piece from @sethfrotman and @kennybauf on the importance of private enforcement against corporate abuse.
The bottom line: Private enforcement saves taxpayer dollars and serves as a bulwark against corruption.
It is literally anti-fascist.
