For those who can read Gurmukhi, Jild #1 of #SurajPrakaash (Bhai Vir Singh edition) has an amazing introduction!
I highly recommend reading it if you want an in depth preface to #KaviSantokhSingh.
“Every time a poem is written, every time a short story is written, it is written not by cunning, but by belief. The beauty, the something, the little charm of the thing to be, is more felt than known.”
—Robert Frost
@jamilaji You have over a month to write a short story. Full details on the VidhiyaSaagar Instagram page.
Please do consider sharing it with anyone you know who is in avid reader, writer, artist. We aren't active on Instagram so it's been hard to get the reach.

SHORT STORY COMPETITION! Open to all countries, all ages!
We are asking you to write a (historic-fiction like) story that takes place around the time when the Sahibzade were martyred.
To summarize:
• ~ 5-10 pages
• Can be any scene/event
• You can use fictional characters
This children book is better than 90% of adult books I've read
because the author does ONE thing, and ONE thing really well.
Storytelling. Let me explain:
@jamilaji This is why we decided to do a writing competition this year.
Stories are powerful! Good stories can change the way people think and act.
And really, really good storytellers can change the world!
Once again, asking you all to consider joining the competition & writing about the shaheeds this December!
At the very least, please share it with younger audiences.
The details of the competition are on VidhiyaSaagar Instagram page, and you'll have until mid January to write!
Writing competition aside...
Writing little stories and translations has grown my love for Guru Sahib in ways you couldn't imagine:
Let me explain... (cheesy story):

It's such a small, simple story... and writing about it allowed me to explore it in so much more depth.
The history books didn't specify her name, but she lives in my heart forever.
I beg for Guru Sahib's darshan and I pray I could have undying faith like this Mata. 🩷
