**The cost math is the whole story.** Tesla targets **under $0.30/mile operating cost** with a $25,000 vehicle ([Wikipedia](https://t.co/lQ0CjpqaK0)). A human-driven ride costs Lyft/Uber ~$2–3/mile all-in (driver pay, insurance, take rate). If Tesla can run rides at even $1/mile, it undercuts the entire human-driver model.
