Home Secretary Winston Churchill sent gunboats up the Mersey.

Bloody Sunday Liverpool.

Liverpool had been in the middle of a transport strike since June and on this day 85,00 people gathered at St George's Hall to listen to Tom Mann at a rally.
It was a a time of sectarian divide in the city, 3200 catholics had recently had to flee their homes in the Everton area but the city rose as one in 1911.
For no apparent reason troops and police baton charged the crowd resulting in many injuries and eventually two deaths in Vauxhall Rd.

Section 60 orders giving officers extra stop & search powers have been introduced in Liverpool & Southport today. We have arrested 34 people following disorder in Southport (10), Liverpool city centre (12) and Walton (12) this week.
