Stripping Shamima Begum of her citizenship when she was groomed at 15 years old by adult men, raped, married, and abused is one of the most appalling decisions I’ve ever seen.

And I want to draw your attention to a parallel.

The judge Dame Sue Carr stated today, ‘It could also be argued that Miss Begum is the author of her own misfortune.’

In 2013, the exact same words were said about teenage girls being raped, exploited and abused in Rotherham, Rochdale and Oxford.

The words used were, ‘these girls were the authors of their own downfall’.

This is the bullying of a victim of child grooming, trafficking and radicalisation and our government should be ashamed of what we have done to her.
