Sports in Kansas 2023 Non-Senior Offensive Player of the Year – Small Classes🏈
Josh Burdick, Cheney Jr. QB
Burdick helped Cheney to the 3A state title going undefeated this fall for the first time in school history. The junior passed for 2,625 yards with 37 touchdowns to just three interceptions. Burdick and his weapons Jackson Voth, Colter McDaniel & Drew Tolar proved to be the perfect offensive combo this season. He also added 234 rushing yards on the ground with six more scores. Burdick has 4,851 yards passing in his career with 60 touchdowns for a 66% career completion percentage. He was a member of last seasons SIK Non-Senior team before taking home top offensive honors this season as non-senior. Burdick was also an honorable mention all-state catcher from Sports in Kansas last spring as a sophomore. His role model is his dad and his favorite food is a Big Mac. He tells us the one thing an average person wouldn’t know about him is that he can play the piano.

It was quite the 18th birthday for Jackson Voth of Cheney. Voth helped his 3A Cheney Cardinals team to their first ever state championship in football on his 18th bday on Saturday as they defeated Hayden, 34-7, in Hutchinson. Likely the best overall two-way player in 3A Kansas for 2023 in leading the Cardinals to a perfect 13-0 record. Voth is a New Mexico State commit where he will play for fellow Cheney native Jerry Kill who has the Aggies at a remarkable 10 wins this season. Voth pictured with his father, Matt, who was also an all state player for Cheney in the 90s. #sportsinkansas
Nothing could stop @CheneyCardinals this season.
Not the nation's longest winning streak. Not decades of history without a title. Not even a snow storm.
@CheneyCardsFB caps a dream season of 13-0 with the first state championship in program history.

It’s hard to beat the year 3A Cheney🏈 just had in football under head coach Shelby Wehrman.
-first ever state 🏈title, beating Hayden 34-7 in title game
-undefeated season at 13-0
-ended nations longest win streak (57) of Andale, coming back down from 22 during district.
-beating the same Andale team, 28-24, a few weeks later in front of 6,000 fans after being down, 24-0, to advance to first ever title game.
-winning a state title in the snow
