@aboodman Content like this gives me great confidence in choosing/recommending Zero! (acknowledging tradeoffs; clear explanations of technical details)
@unconed@dustingetz@aboodman Really enjoying this deep-dive thread!
Fun fact: GDocs was DOM-based but switched to a custom Canvas-based renderer a few years back https://t.co/YMxev6jS9S
@aboodman What I look for: fidelity to OS for text navigation keyboard shortcuts (option+arrow etc for macOS) + predictability in selection behavior, esp. in block editors - Linear is surprisingly bad; but maybe I am just Notion-pilled from years of use 😅
@aboodman Curious what you mean by "higher implementation quality"? Interested in the results here!
For text editing experience: I use Notion as a daily driver. (Some papercuts over the years but good enough). GDocs is #1 for text editing IMO. Linear docs is surprisingly bad.

30 minutes was a bit tight to do this well (hence terrible ending 😢) so I'd like to do this online with like an hour and time for questions and go deeper.
Let me know if you'd be interested in that and if so which parts you're most curious about!
@aboodman Small nit - when you transitioned from the Rust example to the TS example, you said "same program" and I missed the fact that you were also switching from DD to ZQL/ZVM. Once I clocked that - super impressive demo!
Is it under `gemini-2.5-pro-max`? I see that, and `gemini-pro-exp-03-25` which is the exp/experimental, not the preview one.
Google wrote [1] that "(...) the previous iteration (03-25) now points to the most recent version (05-06), so no action is required to use the improved model" – but AFAICT that's for the Preview models, not the Experimental models.
