@mseitz2001 Cheap does not equal small market. The small market Padres spent like every small market fan wishes their team would spend and got hit with historically bad luck in 1 run and extra inning games.
@hatrik10 I don't think those games have anything to do with getting kids to like soccer, they are about maximizing touches for each player in a training session. If anything, they are sugarcoating training, not soccer.
@Bryce_A_Miller@flashmanoly I've hoped all year they would be the team to go all the way, but I've expected regression and some bad luck. But the Padres have done payroll and big-name pickups before and for every Kevin Brown there are more Hoyts and Shields.
@flashmanoly@Bryce_A_Miller In 85 the Padres went 4 - 16 from Aug 24 to Sep 15. Had they gone 16 - 4 instead they would have tied the Dodgers with 95 wins.
@flashmanoly@Bryce_A_Miller 1985, 1997 would like a word with you. As a lifelong Padres fan, I expected this. The 1984 team had a breakout season, solid position players at every spot, and then they added LaMarr Hoyt one year off of his Cy Young and the team struggled to get to 83 wins. Sound familiar?
@GUHSDTweet GUHSD with back-to-back SD County TOYs. AND a finalist as well. I begged off of the interview committee b/c I knew how good both of our candidates were and I didn't want to be accused of favoritism when they won!
