@ezsmith397@JiveDig It sounds that you did your due diligence though! I haven't had my mind on the project since selling it, but tackling search will always be something I'm drawn to like a moth to flame π
@ezsmith397@JiveDig Hours hurts, I would definitely see that in some cases. So much depends not only on the number of posts, but also the content itself e.g. how much and how unique each word is, in fact. My mind always said it should scale further, but I also knew it was doing a lot π
@ezsmith397@JiveDig Curious: what ended up being the deciding factor against? I have to imagine 30k posts took.. somewhere around ~30min to index. Was it that latency, or were the search queries slow/inaccurate? 20k entries was always the soft limit in my head over the years, then suggest Elastic π
@JiveDig@deviorobert Great minds think alike! Check out https://t.co/F5QgTir0Lu and https://t.co/WLkLLqwfAp which is a long time Laravel package that _is_ a CMS, pretty great!
@jcasabona@JS_Zao thiiiiiis is super interesting! I've had some direct interaction with Per and he knows his stuff, really cool to see he's building this!
@dhh I'm in the midst of a (forced) trial of my Framework 13 & one thing I very much struggled with was the resolution in Gnome (everything too small at 100% scale, everything too huge at 200%) & had to jump through hoops a bit but got things working nicely w/ https://t.co/ealGzwe9n2
@sabbatical I snagged a https://t.co/4YtUUwuJis which is the best of other machines I've tried (last one was a ThinkPad) and have fiddled around with many distros, but Debian is my style because my main goal is stability. Wrote a bit recently https://t.co/ZT8dN6O9yZ and hope to write more π
I am neck deep in a full-on full time forced trial of Linux for reasons like this and many more and not Windows because literally everything else we touch as developers is run by Microsoft
@jackmcdade I say... go fishing. Your brain will show you that light bulb when you're ready to do some sort of Jack McDade level supporting project without trying to oomph it
@jackmcdade I can't imagine how much blood sweat and tears it took to get out the door dude β and DO NOT let the post-launch trough of death give you a double triple death blow, that trough is ROUGH and a liar

Today my course officially goes live!
Iβve never put more thought, care, energy, passion, or creativity into anything else in my entire life. I hope it's enough to changes your corner of the internet for the better.
Links π
so like... the equivalent to vinyl wrap on your car, right? https://t.co/lHaUAdCElj does anyone still read or click links or visit websites?
no, ok. also: it's been a while π
In light of @OrganizeWP coming out of beta(!) I wrote a couple notes on its pricing model and why https://t.co/I6ElPm1LHs
(warning: "a couple notes" is ~2000 words π¬)
