@RepAOC my bad, you had open quotes without close quotes on 3 of the paragraphs. You really need to hire an editor, you use quotes when you are quoted and reference who was quoted. You should recuse yourself from all education bill votes.
Connor, solid piece. The pie expands. I'm with you — I build with AI every day.
But here's where I am concerned is every example you gave — knitting machines, looms, ATMs, scanners — those replaced hands. Process work.
What's getting replaced right now is different. It's the junior analyst gig. The first-year associate. The entry-level jobs where kids fresh out of college get their teeth kicked in and actually learn to think. That's not a job. That's a proving ground. And it's disappearing. Your job and my job, we already have scar tissue from our early years.
You said invest in judgment, moral reasoning, leading through ambiguity. I agree.
But where does a 22-year-old learn that stuff if we just eliminated the place that taught it because that isnt happening in college. Kids learn to finally start learning to think critically their first gig making mistakes on Tuesday and fixing them by Friday. I think its not a question of if AI will kill jobs and create new ones but the jobs it kills are where kids cut their teeth. It will be interesting to see.
Good read
