@re_skob @ZaidJilani Museums very rarely pay to display works of art. They are normally on loan from an artist or a collection. I believe the one referenced here, which was on display at a Smithsonian museum from 2022 to 2023, was from UTRGV.

@nisaea @TheRickWilson Let’s take a step back - the Smithsonian museum in which we are referring is an AMERICAN history museum. Slavery in the rest of the world is irrelevant to AMERICAN history.

@nisaea @TheRickWilson This is about how the Smithsonian displays the history of the United States. The exhibitions are related to how slavery was exploited in the early American colonies. Continuing to bring up Native Americans is deflecting from the point of the argument.

@nisaea @TheRickWilson The history of America was shaped by the inhumane exploitation of Africans, Natives, Chinese, and others. Acknowledging that and its immorality has nothing to do with any other history. It’s not a blame game, it’s acknowledgement. Sorry if it makes you feel bad.
