Please stop oversimplifying, over reading and generalizing. Human beings are complex and human problems and issues even more so. How about if we stick to precise questions and issues in factual contexts so we can avoid misrepresenting each other.
@karaswisher I just want a text based app that works as a source for news - the way twitter used to. Now my feed is full of garbage and I can't trust the blue checkmarks. I'd like the ownership to be squeaky clean but I'm too desperate to be picky.
@petemandik I get that everything is just models projected by our consciousness but we are apparently successfully predicting things - so those things must exist? There's something out there? (Serious question)
@jennycohn1 I've had religious people ask me - if I don't believe in God, what stops me from doing bad things? This made my jaw drop. I mean, how does my answer not insult them? I usually phrase it as, " if there were no God, you wouldn't go around murdering and stealing would you?"
@julesterpak@RepBuddyCarter I don't understand any of this hearing. Aren't the manipulations that have happened by Musk on twitter and Zuckerberg on fb/ig at least as dangerous as potential manipulations by China on tiktok? Twitter and fb are being used to promote fascism and take down US democracy.
@leather_butch @thefatdoctoruk If I remember rightly, severely obese was riskier, overweight and obese were better and recommended weight was again riskier. As the pandemic went on I mostly saw it even out to the same for everyone. Not that you could find a lot of stats on it but they did pop up occasionally
@thefatdoctoruk Every time I checked the stats in the US the bmi of covid death rates was about the same as general population bmi. People on here would be saying x% of covid deaths are obese people! And I'd point out that x is also the general population obesity rate 🤷♀️
