It makes two main points: if you don’t do this you stifle the growth of (particularly) Birmingham and Manchester; and without it the WCML and M6 will be full within ten years. Ten years is not long in transport planning terms
Interesting first test for the new govt’s position on new transport infrastructure in the north: long awaited study commissioned by mayors calls for new line up the west coast - or the corridor falls over within the decade

Despite that, Volvo is still expecting around 90% of cars to be fully electric or PHEV by 2030 - a major accomplishment and one that would not occur without the various EV leaders setting the pace.
@paulg@typesfast Worth a read of an interview out today in the trade press. TLDR: explicitly against fear of job reduction https://t.co/M4P2n5PRUF”%20he%20said.
The way that Jensen Huang runs Nvidia is wild: 40 direct reports. No 1:1s. No formal planning cycles. And no status reports.

Luca Maestri steps down as Apple CFO after 11 years at the helm.
Market cap has grown by nearly 10x in that time. Not to mention the largest share repurchase program in history (must be around $700B-800B under his watch - growing at $25B per quarter).
He’s had a hell of a run, albeit under the easiest possible circumstances a CFO could wish for; he inherited a FCF volcano.
Great to see them promote a successor internally in Kaven Parekh. I expect there’ll be more threats to Apple’s FCF generation in the next decade than there has been in the last.
Best of luck to him.
Ps - I once showed this clip of Luca to my VP of treasury when he asked for a bigger team : )

China is powering a global energy revolution that will touch every corner of the economy.
Happy to have contributed to a long read in the established mainstream media on what decentralising power in Britain could now do for buses in Bolton. Including a controversial proposal that's worked in Birmingham. https://t.co/s2ApdHGBEb
