@BahgatMarko@BasedEmbraced@darwintojesus Logic/uniformity being essential for the universe doesn't intrinsically mean that it was imposed by a higher power.
Hence, my distinction between discovered (natural) and dictated (by God).
And disagreement in morality?
Yeah, that happens... because it's subjective! π§
@BahgatMarko@BasedEmbraced@darwintojesus I never said they are essential for reality. I don't know either way. But just bc we find and use logic, doesn't mean God exists.
As for morality... have you never heard of ethical subjectivism? Or emotivism? Might want to look into opposing perspectives sometime.
@BasedEmbraced@darwintojesus Or...
LIFE: Chemistry naturally progressing to self-replication (biology)
INTELLIGENCE: Emergent complexity (spectrum found in nature)
DESIGN: Function not purpose, no design evident
PURPOSE: Subjective not imposed
LOGIC: Discovered not dictated
MORALITY: Subjective
Enjoy. π«‘
@Emily78797000@MasonJamesShow@Dracopyre321@mat_ko__@darwintojesus A bit late, but if I may...
Atheism is just a single variable or factor within a non-believers worldview... not the base of it.
In many cases, atheism is the product or result of a worldview rather than a foundational principle.
@wendelltalks "Why?" Implies intent.
You're assuming that intent and asserting there must be an answer in the positive sense.
The more honest question would be, "Is there a 'why' to this universe and us?". I don't see a reason to accept your answer of God.
Also, satisfying β accurate.
@wendelltalks As atheism is the lack of belief in a god/gods, it is not intrinsically religious nor a religion.
However, this does not preclude an individual atheist from being religious.
Is this distinction helpful?
@darwintojesus You are extremely disingenuous. This has been explained to you multiple times.
There is evidence that a god exists... but said evidence is extremely weak and/or better explained by natural phenomena.
And yet, you continue peddling these derogatory caricatures.
Why? π€¨
@WAusJackBauer@CdeRoiste 1: Plate tectonics. Land masses moving apart and colliding, forming mountains; the rock at the top would have been below sea level millions of years ago.
2: What measurements? Most will happily concede a margin of error, yet the results remain consistent/reliable.
@leroyb756 I can and am a moral person.
I am an atheist.
You just disagree: with how I arrive at said morals, or possibly the moral itself.
Almost like morality is subjective... weird.
@SonofManwithus Hello again!
Nobody is really trying to defend the Satan character's actions. So, there is no need to criticize.
God, however, is defended at every turn. Many atheists view God's actions as reprehensible, so the defense of said actions is equally reprehensible. Ergo, criticism.
@SonofManwithus Hi! Atheist here.
I agree with you! Plenty of evidence for a god... but...
I see that the same evidence can also support a naturalistic explanation. And, from my studies, the natural is a far more parsimonious model for said evidence than the god hypothesis.
@darwintojesus A theory is not a fact
A scientific theory is not a fact
Look, you got another one.
Congrats π
Now that the pedantic word games are out of the way, what does this have to do with anything?
