@stackerco You are the arbitrator of right and wrong for yourself. Religion tries to be the arbitrator of right and wrong for everybody. Some basic moral values are fixed. For the grey areas youโll need to use you heart and mind. Blind obedience is incompatible with ascension.
@stackerco I actually left the church just so that I could have potatoes in my breakfast burritos. No sin feels better that wrapping the potatoes in the tortilla with all the spicy ingredients.
@aureliawelde Regardless of popularity, all of these reason for leaving the church are valid.
I didnโt have to leave the church to commit sin. I know this because many practicing Mormons betray their own god and their own humanity everyday.
I donโt pass judgment, but they certainly will.
@mykola I feel this. Itโs like the system is having cascading failures and everybody is ignoring them. Weโre forgetting how to be human. Weโre forgetting the ground beneath our feet.
@JacobEliButler@eyeslasho I imagine a person who has found loop holes in their Hippocratic oath and they find it okay to heal people physically, but canโt help but tear down their patients mentally and emotionally.
@ApostateAbish @BrotherMike17 One time we administered a priesthood blessing to exercise a demon, and it just made the demon gleeful. Scariest moment of my life.
Iโve never felt smaller.
@matthewallen I had $4000 I had saved up before my mission. Helping my companions eat cost me all of it over the 2 years. Some areas, the members refused to feed us because of the actions of previous elders.
The stipend only amounted to like $50 every other week.
We ate so much ramen.
