@stackerco You are the arbitrator of right and wrong for yourself. Religion tries to be the arbitrator of right and wrong for everybody. Some basic moral values are fixed. For the grey areas you’ll need to use you heart and mind. Blind obedience is incompatible with ascension.

I didn’t have to leave the church to commit sin. I know this because many practicing Mormons betray their own god and their own humanity everyday.

@matthewallen I had $4000 I had saved up before my mission. Helping my companions eat cost me all of it over the 2 years. Some areas, the members refused to feed us because of the actions of previous elders.

The stipend only amounted to like $50 every other week.

We ate so much ramen.
